The Significance of Ron's Patronus

Is there anything in canon that explains why Ron's patronus is a Jack Russell Terrier? It seems to me (and I may have this wrong) that a person's patronus shape has more to do with an animal that is significant to them than an animal that reflects that person's personality. There's nothing in canon. Jo said in an interview that Jack Russell Terriers are very fierce and very loyal. I'm guessing she made it a JRT because of Ron's Loyalty.
