I've been asked, rather late in the day, to run the puppetry schools summer festival thing. That is to say find festivals who might want a tent full of puppeteers and be willing to pay cash for. I'm playing at the Skipton Puppet Festival next weekend. As far as I know we'll be in the free hub area but there are an absolute ton of other fun things going on that only cost a bit. Check out the brochure and book tickets for them if you feel like coming along. I'll be checking out a few of the shows myself when I can!

Of late I've mostly been reading texts on marionette construction or the correct placement of lights for shadow puppetry. Or notably a book on Freudian interpretation of fairy tales (they're all pretty much about penises apparently). However, I have read a few texts not related to puppetry (or Freudian genitalia). A year or so back, in the delightful company of Miss elle_dritch, I saw Spymonkey perform their show Moby Dick. It was beyond awesome. Comedy both physical and cerebral, extreme silliness and more than a bit naughty too. I immediately formed a massive crush on Petra Massey. It's seeming more likely that the festival on weekend of Sept 17th in Lincolnshire is not in fact Witham's Puppet Festival but the slightly larger and more terrifying looking Alchemy Festival.
