Steve's boss and his wife lost their 28 year old son yesterday.  He had a stroke on Friday and they had to make the heart-wrenching choice to remove him from life support.  This is bad enough, but they also lost their daughter to cancer this past spring.  And they had only the two children ( Read more... )

Steve went to the doctor for his routine physical on Friday.  He may have prostate cancer.  May not, but it will take a few weeks to find out via a biopsy.  We were in about the same place this time last year waiting for news on whether he would need heart surgery again or not.  Fortunately that was a not, but it kept us from going to Jess's ( Read more... )

These are the flowers I made from 0n-line instructions.  Only the one on the top right really looks good in person.  The lower right one is a bit messy looking and the big one is just too floppy.  It would look great on a hat or something though.

We've got 6-13" of snow depending where you stick the yardstick into it. Really pretty because no one is out yet messing it up with tire tracks and footprints. The slightly distressing thing is that I'm hearing what sounds like sleet hitting the side of the house ( Read more... )

This is the fitting this afternoon. Some fiddling around with the draping on the back and the neckline will be necessary. Otherwise, it looks pretty much like she wants it to. The hip drape is just lining for checking it out and will have to be made in the silk for the next try on in a couple of weeks. Yay! No major problems!
