I always felt that this was an interesting BSC book because it deals with dyslexia. Personally I always thought that it would make more sense for Claudia to have a learning disorder. Instead, particularly in the later books, she just comes off as lazy and/or stupid, depending on which ghost writer we’re talking about.

( In this case it's Nola Thacker, so she's just incredibly lazy. )

This has been a really stressful day, prepping for JET life and a Pike-ish ruckus going on in the house (one small nephew and two brothers with voices you can hear from Canada substitute eight children, in this case). Part TwoThe thing that's beginning to strike me about this book, in contrast to many (especially later) books I've read, is that there's no B-plot. It's all Kristy's Krushers, all the time. Kristy and the Walking Disaster was one of my favourites as a kid. In hindsight, I can see why. Unlike the most recent book I snarked, Mary Anne and the Zoo Mystery, it was written by Ann, its plot more or less makes sense, and it was probably the first book I ever read that really ignited my 'shipper tendencies that would one day thrive and lead ( Read more... )
