"Corrective" rape is rape committed against a lesbian in the belief that it will "cure" her of her homosexuality. It is currently reaching epidemic-level proportions in South Africa. Rowan Williams speaks.

My heart still hurts for the state of the communion. I cannot believe it is the fault of any but those who ignore the simplest message -- "They will know we are Christians by our love."

But now that the archbishop is asserting his authority, perhaps whatever is to happen -- will happen.

I'm not quite sure what to do with this.

On the one hand it supports me in banging on about sexuality not being a choice.

On the other, I believe quite strongly that gender and sexuality are two entirely separate continuums, and that gender roles are largely socially determined, rather than innate.

So. Yeah. Not quite sure what to do with this

I am so proud to be Canadian today.
