"Corrective" rape is rape committed against a lesbian in the belief that it will "cure" her of her homosexuality. It is currently reaching epidemic-level proportions in South Africa. I will never understand why people believe that forcible "correction" is necessary, or just how self-possessed, weak and threatened a person must be to believe that being forcibly penetrated by their penis will "cure" a woman's sexuality.

According to "some", the reverse is true for men. Murphy's Law is right, 'intelligence' is really a fixed constant while the population grows.

I don't think they actually believe it will 'correct' them. I think they take the fact that they aren't attracted to men as a personal affront and do it to punish them. Sort of 'You may say you don't want to sleep with me but hah, I can do it anyway so what you think doesn't matter'.

Which, is probably worse.

They still deserve to go to jail, for a long time.

In the case of fundamentalist Christians I don't buy for one second they crusade against homosexuality because they want to improve the lives of the "afflicted" - as I see it, they consider themselves members of a system that gives them moral superiority over all not adhering to it, and that they get their perverse little kicks out of "being right", "fighting the good fight" and assuring their place among the saints. Well, Germany has shown before that a big lie doesn't get any truer if the masses fall for it.

Yep, that sounds right, especially as it's something that is rather common in mild forms even in many non-raping heterosexual males interested in lesbians.

Well. Just when you thought you had heard it all.

I lean to giving people the benefit of the doubt...their intentions are good even if their actions are not, blah, blah. (aka Dubya).

But this is just so ignorant, so hateful.
I can't even really comprehend any of it.
