Peru was a great adventure indeed. It really forced me to gather strength from within myself to continue the trek. I spent 4 days 3 nights hiking the Inka Trail. The 1st day was relatively easy but still difficult with the altitude. The 2nd day was brutal. 6 hours uphill on ancient Inka stone steps that are almost vertical. I have also just gotten word that I have been accepted into the Savannah College of Art and Design for my M.A. in Motion Media Design! Part time online! Just what I wanted so I can keep working my job and work on my degree in my off time.

So I've been moving on of sorts. I'm an advanced blue belt in karate now. Getting stronger and working on that. Still applying to grad schools for fall. 2 down 1 to go...let's see how I do. Started taking an oil painting class to beef up my portfolio. Producing another online game. Planning a trip to Peru to climb Machu Picchu. Doing ok.

So after sadness and drama, I have returned from Dublin, Ireland. It was exactly what I needed to clear my mind and open my soul. The first night I was there I headed up to the mountains to sit down by a fire with a pint of Guinness and Irish folk music improved by the locals. I met the Puerto Rican side of Joe's family this weekend at his cousin's quinceañera. It was a very interesting cultural experience. I had no idea quinceañeras were tied to the Catholic Church. The woman sits on a chair at the center of the altar all throughout the mass. A tiara and clear shoes are taken up with the gifts and blessed by the priest ( Read more... )

I took my blue belt test yesterday. We all lined up in front of the Grandmaster and about 20 black belts while they shouted commands at us in Japanese. As intense as it was, I think I passed. So the 48 Hour Film Project was kind of a fail, but a good experience none-the-less. In the meantime I've been focusing on karate. I finally got my Gi (uniform) the other day. I look all official and spiffy now. Ju Shihan also asked me to say the honorific ritual we do before and after every class in Japanese and I didn't mess it up! I don't think ( Read more... )
