I met the Puerto Rican side of Joe's family this weekend at his cousin's quinceañera. It was a very interesting cultural experience. I had no idea quinceañeras were tied to the Catholic Church. The woman sits on a chair at the center of the altar all throughout the mass. A tiara and clear shoes are taken up with the gifts and blessed by the priest
