Helen has come to terms by now with the fact that her memories may not be exactly true to the way that things have actually happened. She's been a bit out of sorts, trying to piece together what she's missed and who might still remember her. Her stroll today has led her to Grant Park. She's met quite a few interesting people in this particular spot, so it seems like a fair enough place to start to reconnect.
As she draws closer to the greenery, the distinct sound of a particular era of music drifts to her ears. The corners of her mouth twitch into a smile as she lets her feet carry her closer. While the 80's are not her favorite decade for musical progression, Helen can certainly appreciate the choice

They had one conversation where they discussed funnel cake and cotton candy, but to him it seemed to be a nice conversation, and he wouldn't have minded having one again. Then he saw on the journal that the strange man with the boat is throwing a party for her birthday, and according to human custom, you go to the birthday parties of your friends.
So this is Cas. Attending the party.
Appearing behind Helen with little more warning than a soft ruffle of wings.
"Yes," he agrees after she speaks. "The decorations are very pleasing."
Helen turns her head sharply, surprised to see a man now behind her. She places a hand over her heart and lets out a laugh while her face lights up in an embarrassed smile.
"Oh! I didn't see you there. Yes... pleasing. That's a word for it. It certainly looks like someone has gone all out. Do you know who the party is for, by chance? I just happened upon all this while I was out for a walk."
"Veronica Mars," he replies simply. "She is a friend of Shawn Spencer's, and he is throwing it for her for her birthday. But he says that everyone is invited -- it is not simply limited to her friends."
Castiel reads the journal a lot. Most people would probably convey it in a tone that's a bit more personable and akin to gossip, but Castiel just says it flatly, as though he's relaying facts -- in his mind, he is.
Neal is not entirely sure why he thought coming would be a good idea.
Well no, he thought about coming because it was a party and eh was bored and sometimes it's just nice to be around happy people and birthdays can usually provide such things. So he talked to Peter, who had decided to skip out on the party itself, and come hang out.
He brought desert though!
He couldn't figure out what sort of food to bring with him, so he just prepared an array of deserts, from cupcakes to eclairs, to truffles to a few doughnuts he picked up because he didn't want to deal with frying anything.
Dropping the try off somewhere it looks like it will get appreciated, he settles into a corner, more intent on people watching than interacting with anyone but he'll happily say hello of someone wants to chat.
Sara long since got over the idea of being a party crasher.
Granted, normally it was done for the sake of her job, but in this instance, it could come in handy as well. Besides, this seems like a good opportunity to make some friends, and she'd be the first to admit that after falling through the Rift, she is desperately in need of some of those. So when there's a birthday party advertised on that journal thing, and it's listed as open to all, she figures it couldn't hurt.
However, just because she's there to make friends doesn't mean that she's not happy to see a familiar face when there is one. When she spots Neal sitting off in the corner, she makes her way over with a bit of a smile.
"I take it you're responsible for the dessert cart?"
"I think I've been on a low level sugar rush for the past two days," he informs with a wide grin. "It was worth it though. Besides I couldn't come empty handed."
And everyone loves sweets, especially at a birthday party.
He scoots over a little, leaving her some room. He was going to maybe try and socialize when a few other people arrived but he is also perfectly content to let Sara take up his attention for a while.
"I didn't know I'd actually be seeing you here, I would have said we could go together."
Sara moves to sit on the bench next to him, settling back and just taking a look around the park. Say what you want about Neal, but he definitely knows the right angle to look at something when you want to see everything.
"It was a last minute decision. I don't know the birthday girl, but I figure -- might as well get out in public if I'm stuck here."
There is no way Randall's missing Veronica's party. Yes, he already took her out on her birthday, but parties are another matter. He likes parties. And he's glad there's one for Veronica, because he thinks she's funny and awesome and he wants her to have all the friends she can.
In an effort to help this he invited Sophie to come along. He isn't sure if she and Veronica know each other or not, but one more party-goer is never a bad thing.
He stops first to find a gift so that he doesn't show up empty-handed, but then he makes his way to the party. He's smiling and happy today as he mills around and starts to look for people he knows. The birthday girl, Sophie, and anyone else.
Sophie doesn't know Veronica at all, but you don't turn down a nice man when he asks you to a party. That's simply rude, after all. And an outdoor soiree, even if it's not her usual style, is always a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
She wanders into Grant Park, and it doesn't take her long to pick Randall out of the crowd, given his height. Slowly, she makes her way over and flashes him a smile. "Having a good time so far?"
He swings around when she appears and his grin only widens. "Hey! Sophie! Glad you made it!" He glances around at the scene. "Well, I just got here but it looks like a pretty rockin' party so far."
He leans in a bit and points to where the food is. "There's cake."
She smiles back at him, settling into the spot next to him as she looks around. "Food, music -- your friend seems to have covered all the bases rather well."
And that is the truth. It seems as though everything's been accounted for.
She may not know the birthday girl personally, but she does know Shawn, and thinks he's the most awesome person on the planet, in her humble opinion. So she always wants to help where she may, and she was happy to go shopping with him for party favors and the like.
Hopefully, everyone likes it.
Currently, she's making her way over to the wienermobile to check on Shawn. It all smells very good, by the way.
"Everything okay here?" she'll ask him once she's located him.
Shawn glances up from his smoking grill, and gives her a grin. Anne is always one of his favorite people to see, and seeing her here definitely makes it even better.
"Everything is awesome," he says with a nod. "Burger?"
"Don't mind if I do!" Anne says, which is a hell yeah I want a burger, only in Anne speak. She grins and sits down somewhere nearby him, scanning her surroundings in case anything needs fussing over. She is a good fusser.
"Everything seriously does look awesome, Shawn. I'm sure your friend's gonna love it. You should host parties more often! Now there's an idea."
"You know, I tried that. I did 'Party Planning by Shawn' for like -- three months out in San Diego. It never really took off. I'm not entirely sure why."
Probably because he was looking at the wrong clientele for what he could do, but that is a consideration for another day.
Sarah isn't big on parties, nor does she know enough people to be invited to one, but there's music and people gathering around and she's a curious sort of person. Curious enough to wander by and wander around to see what's special about today, and it's nice to see everyone gather around and have a good time, in general.
That's sorely lacking in Chicago, sometimes.
She'd been at the park, once again drawing portraits. She closes her sketchpad, slipping it under her arm as she moves closer, noticing the birthday decorations. She smirks a little, picking up one of the party favors. It's a blowout, except this is the Rift, so Sarah only has to pick it up before glittering confetti is thrown everywhere. It's caked all over her face.
Anyone walking by will be smacked with the glitter, too. Apologies!
And when she came to see what was going on and someone handed her a cupcake and told her to enjoy the party. She's not even sure who the party's for. But she'll stay because the cupcake is pretty and she likes cupcakes.
She's sat on the grass, almost hiding under the table only a few steps away from Sarah. She's picking the icing off her cupcake, and sticking her finger in her mouth to eat it.
The shower of glitter suddenly covers her legs and cupcake. "Oh.." she stares for a few minutes and then holds her up cupcake in the sunlight, watching it sparkle. "Pretty!"
"Sorry!" Sarah is quick to apologize, turning and sending Dylan a sheepish smile. She'd say these kinds of things don't happen to her often, but they sort of do. It does look pretty, and she moves a bit closer to appraise it. She wrinkles her nose and wipes at her cheek to get rid of some of the glitter from her face.
Coughing a little, since some of it nearly got into her mouth.
Charming!
"Are you the birthday girl?" Sarah asks, noting the cupcake and noting the way Dylan almost seems to be hiding. It's okay, though. She hides often, too. Sometimes too often.
Dylan smiles faintly at the other angel and waves a hand. "Noooooo, it's okay!" she holds up her cupcake to her to show, "Y-you made it prettier, see?"
She isn't very good at normal social situations, she is trying to be better at it. She's cheerful, but shy around people she's not familiar with when she's consciously trying to be normal and not make people think she's lost her mind.
So yes, almost-hiding quietly under tables it is!
She shakes her head, "Oh, no. No, not me. I'm not. I don't even know who that is. They gave me cupcakes... and said I could stay," she eats another bit of now glitter-dusted icing. "I like these cupcakes,"
