Junsu sighed as he picked up his books from inside his car. After closing the door, he pushed the automatic locks and unwillingly made his way to out of the university parking. He wasn’t at all looking forward to the day ahead of him. He had two papers due and quiz to worry about, and because of a business meeting his parents urged him to tag along to, he had not written or studied for any of his requirements… yet.

He trudged down the huge parking space with a small frown until an odd figure hiding behind a tree caught his eye.

He recognized that frame. His eyes knitted in confusion but eventually his face brightened up with amusement.  The peculiar character had just brought out the first smile in his stressful day.

---

Jaejoong bit his lip as he watched Yunho chat with his friends by the side of his Audi R8. He held a business book in his arms while smiling charismatically and talking animatedly about some topic Jaejoong was too far from to hear.

This was the Jung Yunho the majority of the world knew. And Jaejoong found himself wishing that it was only that side he’d been acquainted with.

His memories went back to the night before. Just thinking about it made him wince. He wanted to forget what happened, actually, he wanted to simply forget Yunho’s existence. Something he knew was impossible.

“Shit. Why did you have to park near the path I have to pass?” Jaejoong complained in a low whisper, wishing that Yunho’s little chat with his friends would be over soon.

“Fuck. Move away. I have to get to class”

“Get out of here”

“Finish your damn conversation”

He was concentrating on trying to mentally drive Yunho away, focusing so hard that he almost let out a yelp when he felt a finger poke the side of his stomach.

His head whirled to the direction of the perpetuator and was relieved to see Junsu’s friendly face staring right back at him.

“You scared me,” Jaejoong breathed out as he held a hand to his chest.

“I’m sorry. Are you all right? What are you doing here?”

The pale boy’s eyes shifted and Junsu tilted his head in curiosity.

“Well?”

“Nothing.”

“You’re hiding from someone?” He moved closer to the tree, peering past it, all the while ignoring the small “no” he heard from Jaejoong.

After seeing the group of people by the car, his attention went back to Jaejoong, “You’re hiding from Jung Yunho?” He thought it was odd. The freshman had also asked him for his names a few days back and now he’s acting like a distressed schoolboy around him.

Junsu’s lips curled into a teasing smile. “You have a crush on him, don’t you?”

Jaejoong’s eyes widened as he automatically exclaimed an objection. If only Junsu knew.

Not knowing any better, the friendly junior tugged Jaejoong by the arm, and though he was protesting, the pale boy found himself stepping out from his hiding place, walking past Yunho and his friends.

Jaejoong could only wish that the hadn’t seen him. But the heavens were not on his side. Yunho didn’t miss it, not at all. Although he had pretended to be listening to his friends, his eyes trained onto the pair that just passed him.

Yunho could feel his stomach churning at Jaejoong’s sight. He was guilty about what happened last night and seeing the other just made him feel more anxious.

---

It was the second time Jaejoong had been startled that day. Yoochun greeted him just as he stepped out of the classroom.

“Jaejoong-ah”

“E? Yoochun, what is it?”

Jaejoong could see some passing students watching them as they walked along. He couldn’t blame any of them, why would Park Yoochun talk to a nobody like him? He tried to not mind.

“The auction is on Friday, we have barely a week.”

“We have barely a week?” he questioned as the two of them started walking down the hall.

“Didn’t I say I was going to polish you up?”  The pale boy bit his lip at the senator’s son’s words.

With the smile Jaejoong had grown to be so familiar with, Yoochun handed him a piece of paper, “Come to this address? Later, after school.”

Before Jaejoong could say anything, Yoochun winked and walked away, eventually getting lost in the crowd of students making their way to their classes.

He stared at the article in his hand, torn between apprehension and excitement. If he went to the address, he was sure he’d plunge in deeper to their circle.

Did he want it, the freedom, the feeling of being important? Yes. But he also knew that he didn’t want the other things that came with it.

Jaejoong lifted his head when he felt a hand on his shoulder. “You know Park Yoochun?” Junsu asked.

“Uhm. Yea” he tucked the paper in his pocket and spoke to stray away from the subject. “Anyway…Let’s get going”

Junsu only shrugged and tried not to concern himself too much with the matter. What was Jaejoong doing, getting involved with the icons of GeumDae?

---

Jaejoong could feel exhaustion creeping up on him as he lazily dragged his feet in the almost empty hallway. His last class had just ended, and all he wanted to do was to go home and have a nice lengthy hot bath. However, his mind lingered to the address that he was supposed to go to. He wondered if Yoochun’s little appointment would take long. His heart beat in a mix of excitement and worry.

“Excuse me, are you Kim Jaejoong-sshi?” the suddenly intruded student simply looked back at the boy who questioned him. He didn’t bother being the least bit surprised, he’s had too many unexpected encounters for the day.

The other looked young, he had brown hair and brown eyes. It was probably another freshman, Jaejoong noted.

“Yes. I am.”

“I-I was told to take you to the rooftop of the humanities building…” the boy stuttered and Jaejoong only shot him a look of puzzlement. “Please. It will be worth your time.”

“Who sent you?”

“I’m not allowed to disclose…”

Jaejoong felt apprehensive. “I’m busy, I don’t think I sho-“

“But it would really be worth your time. I was only told to take you there, please go with me”

He wondered why the other was so incessant. Who sent him? Yoochun?

“I really have to get going.”

“But Kim Jaejoong-sshi, please.”

Jaejoong sighed. He honestly thought the young looking boy looked so eager that he couldn’t say no.

“Okay. Let’s go.” Thinking that there wasn't anything more in GeumDae that could shock him, he decided to follow the boy, hoping that he’d made the right decision. People in his university really did have some strange way of persuading him to do things.

---

The stairs to the top was really narrow. Jaejoong walked ahead of the brown haired boy as the both of them couldn’t even fit the steps. He was already partially regretting he want along and was relieved to finally see the door leading to the rooftop only a few steps away from them.

“Please go ahead and open the door Jaejoong-sshi,”

The pale boy took an exhausted breath and grabbed the handle of the door before pushing it open.

“Please step in,” he heard the voice from his back, Jaejoong did so and he froze at the sight.

There was nothing in the area but a table for two, a tray of gourmet food and a bunch of presents on the middle of the space. The chairs were crafted with patterns and painted in white and flowers were displayed in the middle of the table. “What?” he whispered in confusion. If he wasn’t so baffled he would’ve thought the setting was romantic.

He moved a few steps closer to the table before he heard the door close behind him.  When he turned his head, he realized that the boy who’d accompany him earlier had already left.

Jaejoong instinctively rushed to the door and tried to open it but it had been locked.

“What the hell?” Panic started to rise.

“Open up!” he screamed as he banged the door.

“Hey! Open up!”

“Open!

He kept banging but eventually gave up as he realized that the boy was probably far off and was never going to open the exit for him.

He turned back at the direction of the fancy table and sighed. “What the hell is this?”

He didn’t know what to do.

At first it was interesting, intriguing even, the world of students at GeumDae, but the more he’s living through it, the more he realizes that that it was starting to take a toll on him.

He was already so tired, he didn’t feel like playing any of the games students at GeumDae set up. He was about to reach for his phone to call Yoochun, thinking that all this was his doing when he heard someone interrupt his actions.

“Do you like it?”

Jaejoong turned to the sound of the voice. His jaws dropped as he saw Jung Yunho standing only inches beside him with a small smile.

“Yunho?” The pre-law student was the last person he’d expected…or wanted to be there.

“Jaejoong, I’m deeply sorry for what happened last night and I want to make up for it by this early dinner“

The other didn’t reply.

“Last night…I don’t really know what took over me but I---“ Suddenly Yunho’s eyes widened as he felt a stinging pain on the cheek. He had just been slapped. He was stunned but couldn’t find himself snapping back at Jaejoong when he saw the angry look on his face.

Jaejoong stared at him with furious eyes. What did Jung Yunho think he was doing? “You’re bribing me now?”

Yunho looked back at him, “No…I just thought-“

Jaejoong couldn’t hold his feelings back, he’d been so scared, confused and frustrated by the other man last night. And just there, the other was thinking his forgiveness could come so easily with a surprise dinner date.

“I only wanted to indulge you in--”

“You can’t buy me.”

Yunho was taken aback by his words. No one has ever told him that, he’d never seen anyone displeased with any of the grand things he’s given. He didn’t mean to make Jaejoong to feel like he was being bought. A quick sense of puzzlement washed over him. How else was he supposed to make it up for it? Jaejoong should be happy he took the effort of asking for forgiveness. Jung Yunho rarely did anything for anyone.

“Get me out of here.”

“Jae--”

The pale boy walked to the door and struggled to open with exasperated hands. He felt a hand circle his wrists title. The strong grasp reminded him of the way Yunho restrained him the other night. It made him feel even more anxious. “Let go of me!”

Yunho found his patience running dwindling too. He hated how Jaejoong judged so low of him. “Don’t walk away from me.”

The other ignored him and just continued tugging his arm away.

“Hear me out! I don’t mean anything bad by this.”

“Like you didn’t mean any bad by last night? Or by cheating on that girl you were with?”

“She’s not my girlfriend. And I--”

“And you were just fucking around.”

“Don’t talk to me like that. You don’t know me!”

“Well, you don’t know me either.” Jaejoong stopped struggling and stared at him, unfazed. “I don’t want this.” It was the coldest voice Yunho has ever heard.

It felt like forever as they stared at each other, neither of their gazes were backing down. The taller man searched his eyes.  He has seen people with eyes like Jaejoong’s. “You don’t know what you want.” He said, almost getting lost in them.

Jaejoong swallowed. "Maybe you're right. Maybe I don't know what I want. But I do know what I don't want. And it's this. Or anything to do with you."

His icy words felt like a stab in Yunho’s chest. He slowly let go of Jaejoong’s risk.

“Now, please, I want to go home.”

For a still moment, they stared at each other again, before Yunho moved to open the door.

It would be the second time Jeajoong walked away from him but instead of deciding to give up boy, he found himself more driven to catch him.

He was frustrated. No one has ever treated him that way before.

---

Jaejoong threw himself onto his bed and buried hi head onto a pillow. “Fuck” He felt so distressed.

He closed his eyes. A part of him is regretting he ever got involved with them. Even Yoochun.

He bit his lip. At that moment he didn’t want to push through with the auction anymore. He didn’t want to be around Yunho…or anyone like him. He was sure he’d encounter more in the Secret Eden.

He rolled off his bed and grabbed his phone.

“Yoochun…”

“Jaejoong-ah!”

“Yoochun, I’m sorry, something came up after school. I don’t think I can make it today.” He heard a sight over the phone.

He debated whether or not he was going to speak of his involvements with Yunho. Was he going to tell Yoochun about what happened last night and earlier that day? As far as he knew, the two of them had been extremely close friends since childhood. He wondered if Yoochun would defend him. He wondered what Yoochun would have to say to what Yunho did. Or did Seoul's bad boy already know what his best friend had done?

A sigh from the other line cut his thoughts. “I’m really sorry.”

“It’s fine Jae. Tomorrow then?”

Jaejoong found himself licking the back of his teeth. He actually didn’t want to push through with it anymore, but his tongue betrayed him. “Sure. Tomorrow.”
