Such a weekend! I called off on Friday, and never 100% recovered-- still going to bed VERY early. But, I went camping for the first time since I was a boy, and it was pretty awesome (while I was awake). It's a shame we came so late to Doctor Who. It is both sillier and more serious than we expected, if that is possible. There is a good chance we'll catch up with the new series on Netflix before the new Doctor debuts. Now that we've sold our souls and gotten cable, BBC America will provide. I was in a scooter accident this afternoon. Details later. I don't think I was at fault but it probably doesn't matter. I picked up my BlackJack last night, and holy shit is it a sweet ride. Smooth, amazing acceleration. Deep, throaty growl. And a 12v socket to keep my plug-in travel mug hot.

I never hit top speed but it's obvious that I can go anywhere in the city; frankly I'm looking forward to trying a trip to Connellsville via 51 when the weather is nice ( Read more... )

dorothymonkey and I passed the motorcycle permit exam on our first attempt-- we were told that's very unusual, but maybe the fellow was just flattering us. It looks like there are still some PAMSP courses with more than one opening in May, too!

I did some more research on my options to get my motorcycle license. No matter what, I need to get to Penn Hills or another DMV on Saturday, with $10 and a little paperwork, to get my learner's permit (assuming I pass a test); this will let me ride between sunrise and sunset for one year. As a vegetarian, I feel some guilt for continuing to wear leather, but this morning it served me well. I had my first spill on my scooter; ( not to worry, though, The Dude and I are just fine. )
