dorothymonkey and I passed the motorcycle permit exam on our first attempt-- we were told that's very unusual, but maybe the fellow was just flattering us. It looks like there are still some PAMSP courses with more than one opening in May, too!

I didn't specifically mention in the other post, I don't think: PA typically treats scooters like motorcycles as far as licensing, road legality, etc. There are exemptions for low-powered scooters, which Jen and I currently take advantage of; specifically, under 50cc engines, you do not need a class M license (a "normal" drivers license is fine). Under 50cc you usually max out in the neighborhood of 35mph... we're looking into 150cc scooters, which should peak around 60mph. Not quite ready for the parkway or 65mph roads (you know everybody speeds) but possibly enough for some smaller highways like route 51 where it is 55mph. (My dream is to make the trip to Connelsville on two wheels.) More importantly, around the city, there are a lot of steep hills where we can barely do 20mph, and a number of 35mph roads where people do 45mph or more.
