So uh, I guess I have a dissertation date picked. Need to check with the committee, but it's looking like I need to have the "final" version of my dissertation sent out April 1st. So that's 4 months from yesterday. OMG. But paper #3 needs another two or three paragraphs which I'll bang out today and then paper #4 is falling together (though my ( Read more... ) -

Once again I find myself thinking that I really dislike fall. I don't like the sudden feeling of OMGWTF I'm freaking freezing and the subsequent search for my wool socks to keep my toes warm enough I can work and sleep (yeah I'm weird, I can't get work done or sleep if my toes are too cold ( Read more... ) -

The last few days it's just been me and the dog. It's been fairly relaxed except I had a postdoc app due on Monday (*fingers crossed because please I wanna go back there*) and I've been cleaning the layer of grease that someone so thoughtfully left all over the kitchen. Don't download chick flicks to the phone on days you know you've been upgraded. You feel really stupid sitting in the middle of all the business people with Global Services membership when you're trying to hide a major case of chick flick sniffles. -

Or at least I certainly feel like one during what is my 7th night of taking data at the telescope. I have no one to blame but myself. . . given my track record with weather up here I asked for about 2 times more telescope time that I needed. Finishing paper #3
So of course the next two weeks or so are a minefield of crazy with observing runs (both by myself and my advisor) and job applications due Nov 4th. . . . yet I'm still trying to get paper #3 of the dissertation ready to submit by the end of the month. In Pasadena
It's both good and bad to be in the place I still consider home. I flew in on Saturday and hung out and went shopping at the Paseo and Hollywood and Highland on Sunday before heading to Universal City where I sat in line for a few hours before getting to see the season premiere of Caprica.
