Well then. .

The last few days it's just been me and the dog. It's been fairly relaxed except I had a postdoc app due on Monday (*fingers crossed because please I wanna go back there*) and I've been cleaning the layer of grease that someone so thoughtfully left all over the kitchen. It's so bad I'm having to do things in sections *grumbles* I feel another lecture about not frying everything in olive oil coming on along with the "see grease fires are why we clean not only the inside of the pan, but the outside as well" lecture. The last one could use some visual aids to really sink in however and I'm not really about to catch the kitchen on fire on purpose.

I haven't yet touched any of the data I took in Tucson, but hopefully I can finish off the paper draft I was working on before I left and then give that data some of my energy. I'm slightly disappointed though- I bought a new drive and decided to name it before I got on the mountain. Thus I christened it BlackCloud. You can guess what I didn't see at all during the whole week I was up there! I think that counts as reverse jinxing myself. Of course now I have portable externals with weird names as I have BlackCloud, RedBug and StinkBug. I think perhaps I need to figure out a naming convention for harddrives sooner rather than later. I mean the computers are getting named after the Irish Fairies, but for the harddrives I may need a theme with names I can spell most of the time without screwing up.

And at least one good thing happened in this town while I was in Tucson- the new city pool/fitness opened! I did most of a mile in the pool yesterday (that was a combo of ow and feeling good) and I think I'm abandoning the dog at home so I can go try tonight's Zumba class as well. Thankfully the monthly rec center pass gives access to all the drop in fitness classes too, so I can hit up Zumba, kickboxing and yoga for free. I'll be curious to see if the yoga person on Friday can understand that no, Child's Pose is not relaxing when you have huge cushions on your chest that crush your damn lungs and if they know any good chest openers since I noticed my swimming yesterday was very tight and way too compact. The only downside to the pool being open is that I had to order some new swim suits online. . . the old ones fit fine everywhere except the chest and then the built in life preservers wanted to pop out and say hi so I had to wear two suits yesterday. Argh. I hope Nike's measurements on their waterpolo suits are accurate.

Oh and if you ever see that person dancing around to their music when walking the dog, that might just be me. Song of the week? Lady Gaga's The Fame. I don't quite understand and I'm not really about to complain either. Though I do think it's funny how many times I've been hit on while walking the dog this week. Maybe I ought to try my luck and go to the local yuppie deli, the guys that work there tend to wind up hitting on me on the odd week I've gotten more male attention than normal and I think some extra eyelash batting might get me some extra figs on my sandwich ;-)
