The State of Me ~ and a couple of pictures

Because our heat pump is still frozen up, the heat/cooling man said to put it on emergency heat to let it thaw, so he can come work on it Friday (tomorrow). Well, that doesn't provide much heat at all, and yesterday I was in 61 degree cold all day. This, along with having no aide and no motorized chair, has put undue stress on my muscles and joints ( Read more... )

"The doctor won't refill them without seeing her, and she has to pay $40 up front in order to do that, and without a JOB it is difficult to do!"

Now there's a doctor should be put up against a wall and shot. Haven't they heard of the hippocratic oath down your way?

sadly, it's the same way here. my friend needs meds for high blood pressure and diabetes, but she can't get them because she can't afford the $65 fee for the office visit.
now, the fact that she buys troll dolls, turtles, and tinker toys is an altogether different matter...

Nope. NONE of them will see you without money up front. It is so shameful, in my opinion. I realize that they need money to function, but surely they can make an exception some of the time!

"surely they can make an exception some of the time!"

Any doctor with an iota of professional self-respect would do exactly that. They should be stripped of their licenses.

Early this morning around 3AM, Bear woke up and found me in excruciating pain in my knees and shoulder. It was like the worst possible toothache in each joint, and then, adding fire to that.

My poor, poor Bear...

You are very right about that, Michael. I know it full well. The Lord did tell us we were a gift to one another... and we are!

::Hugs NHS:: Tightly! Wishes you had one like it.

Sends gentle hugs to you - tight ones would probably hurt.

The quilting looks fascinating.

I know. I keep thinking that if Bear would agree to move to England, i could get treatment. And she could move with us!

Ok, I know I might seem mean but I believe we should be living in the US. It is way more expensive to live in the UK. I had to go bankrupt there after my divorce so I don't know what would happen to me financially if I ever went back to live. The NHS isn't what it used to be and I doubt my Bear could tolerate the wait in appalling conditions, often just to see a junior doctor. Oh, and I prefer teaching here in the US.

I'm sorry Bear :(

My own experience of the NHS over the past few years, with the various sufferings of my family members, has been quite the opposite.

I am hoping that this new administration will make progress with a national health care system. then Addie wouldn't have to worry about up front fees.

I'm thinking about you, feel better.
