The old maid who had introduced herself as Suzuki san led him toward the locked doors at the end of the corridor. Tora followed her until they reached the room, waiting for the maid to unlock the doors for him. He had asked Kai to show him Uruha’s room after a long talk with the lawyer. After that Kai called Suzuki san in, who turned out to be one of the few servants who had been taking care of Uruha for years. The old maid was entrusted with the duty to be the youth’s care-taker and a sliver key to his room, she had proofed herself trustworthy with her duty through the years; even though the lawyer never did entrust her with any of the Takashima Family’s deeper secrets. Kai simply informed the old maid to bring Tora to Uruha’s room for a look, though frowning slightly out of confusion; Suzuki san had bowed to the lawyer and obeyed his order.

The youth had never stepped into this part of the mansion before and he had never expected to step inside the room where Kai arranged for Uruha, the idea of going here made his heart felt heavy despite he knew too well that Kai would not make Uruha suffer when the youth was under his care. Still, to think they had a person caged within a room---no matter how large and comfortable this room might be, the idea of being one of the parties to connive such arrangement to be made always made Tora feel…uncomfortable. The black hair youth remembered Kai saying he had no other choice and Tora had agreed with him; it was way back when the incident with Saga took place; still it didn’t light the guilt which was heaving in their hearts.

After Suzuki san pushed the doors backward, the first thing he had noticed the countless paper cranes among the room, hanging from the ceiling to the carpeted floor, waving softly with the wind from outside of the windows. Even since the light hair youth’s escape, there seemed to be no reason to keep those windows locked any longer.

He walked into the room, only to find himself being surrounded by more paper cranes in all sizes; they were hanging on the walls, laying among the bed sheets, on top of tables and chairs, he even found a drawer stuffing with cranes. When he asked who had folded these paper cranes Suzuki san answered that her Young Master had been folding those ornamentals endlessly for as long as she had serviced him.

People used to say folding thousand cranes would make your wish come true. Was it the reason why Uruha had folded so many paper cranes? But……what was Uruha’s wish then?
He wished he could figure this out, even when at the same time Tora knew finding out the truth might be too much for him to bear, due to his psychic ability thoughts and emotions of other people, or even the echo of them were able to affect him. Right now simply being in Uruha’s room where he had been imprisoned for so long was lowering his spirit, the shadows of Uruha’s thoughts still lingering within the four walls of that lonely room.
Tora also knew that if he lowered his barriers, opened up himself to the outside world, he would even feel more and then learned more from those remaining shades or emotion; but this was what he was afraid of doing, he dreaded finding hatred or anger; hatred toward him and Kai in Uruha’s thought.

For many times Tora didn’t know whether he should cruse or be thankful for his gift, this talent of listening into people’s thoughts had been discovered early; his mentors had taught him to do good with this special gift on helping other people. Though all he wanted was to do just this, but as he grew up he began to doubt what good he could truly bring to his loved ones with this ability…when he failed to protect Saga two years ago, he almost swore never to use his psychic power again.
No……there wasn’t time for him to drown into this self-pity again. He clenched his teeth and focused his mind on his surrounding, listening to the tiny whispers echoing in the air until they became clear in his mind. Sadness started to ripple around him as he opened himself more, then came a wave of longing……and a far whisper of something sounding like a name……

It was near dusk when Uruha was taking a walk in the park alone. Aoi had given Uruha a spare key so he could go out on his own and walked around in the nearby community when he went out to work, Uruha gratefully accepted the offer and little by little he was exploring the nearby area on his own during his free time. His favorite visiting spot so far was a small park next to the apartment building where he now was living with Aoi.

Aoi hadn’t been home yet today but within about an hour he would be. Uruha knew that on his way back home Aoi would walk pass this small park and when the brunette walked by, he would rushed forward to greet him, they could go back home together, then they would prepare their own dinner together as well. He had been helping Aoi to take care of the housework routine in these days. At first there were many things and routines he wasn’t so familiar with but the brunette helped him to get familiar with them one by one patiently, the boy took pleasure on doing those works on a diary basis, he was happy to know that he was helpful for his companion; even the help he managed to offer to the older one would be viewed as insignificance to the others...

He sat down by the swing and watched the children playing game, laughing together under a huge tree opposite of where he was sitting, the soft ray of the sinking sun felt warm to his skin, Uruha smiled at he sight of those children playing cheerfully in front of him, their faces all brightened with happiness as if they never knew sorrow and loneliness existed in this world; a kind of happiness that wasn’t known to him during his own childhood. A small flash of envy gleaming across his mind for a brief moment before Uruha shrugged this thought off, there was no use of envying those children who were lucky enough to be born in ordinary families with loving parents waiting for them at home……time couldn’t be turned back and more importantly, he now had Aoi by his side and that should be enough for him……Uruha reminded himself, and the simple thought of Aoi sent a warm tiny flame alighted within his heart.

The light hair youth was too lost in his thoughts that he didn’t notice the presence of another people approaching him from behind. The figure stopped when he was only about five feet away from Uruha and he didn’t make himself known for a good couple of minutes; the man simply observant his target from behind, trying to figure out how best he should approach the boy without threatening him.

Finally the man cleared his throat slightly, still enough for the sound to be noticed, when he saw Uruha’s body tensing out of surprise, the blonde hair man finally spoke to address the boy. “Young Master…”

Uruha’s heart nearly stopped when he heard the words being uttered, his breath hitched at his throat. Uruha didn’t want to admit it even to himself but he recognized the voice and knew too well that in this town where nobody knew who he was, no one would address him like this if they weren’t related to Kai one way or the other. Already he could feel his fragile sense of happiness and security crumbling around him when he realized one of Kai’s men was right behind him. And if he wasn’t mistaken he actually knew the person Kai had sent to take him back.

It was Ruki.

He didn’t turn back to face who he knew to be standing not far away behind him, not wanting to admit the blonde man’s presence. After a long pause he could hear a sigh being heaving out by Kai’s assistant and Ruki began to move until he walked into Uruha’s line of sight.

“Young Master, it has been a while……” it was supposed to be a greeting, but it came off dry and unnatural once Ruki uttered it. so he added one more sentence awkwardly. “How are you?”

“I was fine before you turn up.” Uruha replied in a selective, cold tone, trying his best to keep the trembling off of his voice. “But now you are going to ruin it.”
Taking a deep breath he asked one more question. “How did you find me?”

“One of the staffs in the orphanage still remembers the name of your childhood friend and I checked on the information about him immediately, that was the same one you are staying with currently, right? Mr. Kai had ordered me to leave no stone unturned and there I am.”

The boy let out a heavy sigh as he could see his dream of happiness reaching it end. Maybe he was too naive to even daring to hope this fragile dream of staying with Aoi could last….and to make thing even more desperate for him, Uruha could see at the corner of his eye that those children he had previously been watching was now leaving the park, some of them guiding away by their mothers. Neither the adults nor the children had paid any attention to them before they left. The boy shifted uneasily on the swing nervously, he was left alone to face Ruki…

“Don’t say that, Young Master--” Ruki shook his head, Uruha noticed in surprise that his expression was almost sad. And the man continued.

“Stop it! I know that Kai sent you! You had found me here and I’m sure Kai would be on his way right now, right? After all you’re always the one most eager to do his bidding!” Uruha snapped at the shorter man accusingly.

“It’s not the truth!” Ruki only shook his head again. “I haven’t informed Mr. Kai of your where about….please trust me.”

Uruha blinked; slightly surprise by the shorter man’s outburst of emotion, Ruki almost looked hurt at the previous moment……
Finally looking up to face Kai’s assistant, the boy asked carefully. “You said you aren’t going to force me to go back to Kai?”
Once again the shorter man shook his head.

“Then why are you here.” Uruha reminded himself he couldn’t let his guard down, he couldn’t trust Ruki and the words he had said, and the latter could be setting up a trap. Even though Ruki used to treat him with more care than any other guards had ever been, but still the blonde was also known to be Kai’s trusted man. As a loyal assistant, the only thing Ruki was supposed to do now was to turn him in to Kai on a sliver tray.

For once the blonde man seemed to be hesitating before he could continue. “I…want to bring you back to your family.”
“What are you talking about?” Uruha’s eyes grew wide upon hearing Ruki’s claim. “You should know I have no---”
But before he could finish telling the blonde his mother was dead so long ago and he never knew his own father, Ruki had interrupted him.
“I know where your true family is, Young Master. I know things that Mr. Kai has withheld from you……”

Shocked, the light hair youth stood up from the swing, opened his mouth again to speak, but nothing came out of it before he could finally whisper. “How would you know such thing? Even if you knew what you claimed as the truth, why would you tell me such thing?”

Then Ruki made an unexpected move, he boldly stepped closer and placed his both hands on either side of the taller one’s shoulders, though the action itself didn’t look frightening, still it sent a wave of shiver down Uruha’s body.
“Don’t be alarmed, Young Master, all I want to do is to…free you.” the blonde tried to convince the younger man in an honest tone. “You would understand once you go with me and see the truth by yourself……”

Free him? Uruha almost laughed at the irony, the one who helped to keep him hostage for years was now telling him he wanted to free him! That was absurd; Uruha had already found his freedom on his own. He wasn’t going to let anyone ruin it.

In a close distance like this, Uruha noticed something he had never noticed from the assistant, something in the blonde hair man seemed to change. He saw it in Ruki’s eyes, it wasn’t what he used and expected to see on the face of Kai’s faithful assistant, the blonde was looking at him with an expression of utter bewilderment…utter foolishness from an adorer.

It was when Uruha understood. No matter what Ruki had in his mind, he was bewildered. The wicked side of his nature was taking the lead now as the light hair one licked his dry lips and made up his mind to exploit the weakness he had just found on Ruki.
Ruki was still speaking softly to him, trying to explain something but hardly any of his words had reached Uruha’s mind as he was busy calculating the best way to get himself out of that situation. He didn’t know whether he could successfully trick Ruki or not, but he feared that once he refused the blonde’s offer, Ruki might report his where about to Kai and he was so certain that once Kai got a hold on him again he could just give up the hope of ever being allowed to go to the outside world, he would not ever able to see Aoi again……

With that thought on his mind, Uruha calmly wrapped his hand around one of Ruki’s wrist, and smiled kindly at him.
Ruki seemed to be caught off guard by his action; he stopped at the middle of his speech, staring back up at the taller one almost blankly. Gripping the opportunity, Uruha whispered near the blonde’s ear in a secret tone.
“Young Master…” Ruki’s tone suddenly gone weak, his expression told everything Uruha needed to know.
“Call me Uruha.” He demanded, leaning closer to the shorter man. This poor man, he was bewitched and he hadn’t known it yet. He didn’t need to. “Tell me what do you want, again.”
“…I…I want to free you…” now Ruki couldn’t tear his eyes away from him as he locked his gaze with the blonde, pinning him still without using any physical force.
“Are you really want to free me, Ruki san?” He pressed the blonde further, knowing too well that he was playing a dangerous game but he also found himself playing out the role of this stronger, cold-hearted tempter so well, maybe it had even gone too smoothly and well for his own comfort.

The assistant nodded back weakly. Uruha offered him another smile as he was sure Ruki was under his spell, meanwhile he slipped even closer to the shorter one, making himself ready.

The last thing Ruki could hear was a soft sigh from the light hair youth.

“Oh, then you should have what you want, Ruki.”

Uruha sat at the rooftop of the apartment building alone, with his knees drew to his chests and his arms wrapping around them tightly. He was shivering all over and the last ray of setting sun did nothing to warm his frozen being. He had done this……again. He had committed what Kai had told him never to commit. It was all wrong. It was the first time Uruha had done such thing at his own will…and it was terrifying! He was hating himself for it now.
Tear was steaming down his cheeks as he sat at the edge of the rooftop and watched the crowd gathering inside the small park. They were gathering around the unconscious blonde man laying numbly on the ground, no one knew what was wrong with the unconscious person but people were yelling about calling police.

“I……I’m sorry, Ruki san….” Uruha whispered to himself as he continued to watch

Soon some people did contact the emergency number and after what felt like eternity to Uruha, an ambulance arrived to the scene finally, with them also came some police officers. The unconscious patient was carried into the ambulance while those policemen waving those on-lookers back to make way and told them to go home. Soon the doors to the ambulance were close and Uruha could no longer saw Ruki; then the ambulance rushed away from the scene. After that, little by little the crowd disappeared as on-lookers leaving one by one. Eventually the park had gone back to normal, like nothing had happened.

Uruha turned his back from the sight of the small park below, resting his back against the barriers for support as he felt himself collapsing into pieces.

“Don’t come here anymore……”He whispered on and on desperately to no one in particular, to the empty space around him. ”I beg you, Kai. Don’t send anyone to come after me anymore…please...”

The sky had already gone dark and cold wind started to blow around him, lashing around the empty rooftop.

“Please don’t come here…Please leave us alone…I want to stay with Aoi kun……I’m sorry…”

“Aoi…” the image of his brunette companion surfaced in his mind and the boy only cried harder.

“Aoi kun…help me…”
