8 Aoi woke up early in the next morning still feeling strangely worn out, since the first thing he came to realize after opened his eyes slowly was the fact that he had somehow fallen asleep leaning against the wall in his small living room with only a blanket to shelter him from the cold night air. For an instant he couldn’t be certain why he had ended up here in the living room’s floor instead of his own futon, he also wasn’t able to recall how and when he had gone home and what exactly had happened in the previous night, but memory soon seeping back to his consciousness. The empty streets of abandoned district, the locked iron gate of the old orphanage, the ruined playground, and those colorful paper cranes under the dim light…….and then there was Uruha, of all people. But……what had happened to him after that?
As the thought of his childhood friend rushed through, Aoi quickly shifted into another position in an attempt to search for the other boy. It was when he noticed the weight upon his laps, and the movement of someone moving against his laps. He looked down and found the one he was looking for, Uruha, sleeping with his head resting on the brunette’s laps, still deep in sleep but the movement Aoi had previously caused was about to jolt him back from the land of slumber soon enough.
The brunette remembered helping a very sleepy Uruha to his bedroom and let him sleep on his futon in the previous night after he brought the boy here-since Aoi couldn’t think of what else he could do or any other places he could bring him to. Once got in, Aoi immediately went to his bedroom and found his friend a plain t-shirt and pair of loose trousers of which he had found among his own clothes to change into because the white outfit that Uruha was wearing was already dirty with dust due to his fall.
Even before the changing process came to an end, Aoi had already noticed how tired the light hair boy seemed to become and he soon had their sleeping arrangement settled---and since the futon he had given to Uruha was also the only one he possessed in his small apartment, Aoi had retreated to the living room after he was sure that Uruha had fallen asleep. He had brought out some blankets with him so he could find a place to sleep there; soon he had fallen into sleep as well.
But why was Uruha here in the living room with him instead of the bedroom, where he had placed him earlier in the night?
And Aoi was right about this, minutes later the brown hair teen was purring softly in his sleep, his slim body started to stiff slightly on the floor he was sleeping on; in the next second, his eyes opened. Those eyes wandered around for a while before the boy raised his head and their eyes met, and a smile appeared on Uruha’s face as he looked up to Aoi, causing the latter to blush unconsciously, it was also when he became aware of the position they were currently in, with the beautiful boy leaning against him, his head rested on his lap, feeling so warm and tender next to him, and they had highly likely remained in the same place for the whole night. The realization only made him blushed even more, like he was having some guilty pleasure which he should not have enjoyed.
“Good morning.” Finally it was Uruha’s greeting that broke the brunette’s train of thought.
“……Good morning…” Aoi answered with a pause, not so sure what he should do or say next before he could pick up some line to fill the pause between them. “Did you sleep well last night?”
Uruha nodded right away, but when he tried to move he was halted by a pain that had just made itself known on the curve between his neck and shoulder, he groaned softly to the ache, his hand reaching up to the side of his neck in an attempt to rub the ache away. Seeing his action, Aoi couldn’t help but smile, and then he placed his own hand gently on the boy’s shoulder and stroked him there for a few times.
“Sleeping on the floor isn’t good for you; see how it made your body ache…”
“……but I woke up in the middle of the night, and I don’t want to be alone……it’s scary…” with his fingers twisting with one and other out of nervousness, the youth with light brown hair lowered his head with an expression of a child who had done something wrong, even when he wasn’t.
Before the brunette could reply, Uruha murmured something totally unexpected to Aoi as the boy explained shyly. “I just……want to be with you.”
Aoi could feel his heart skipping a beat upon hearing those words from his friend, and he could only stared back at him out of shock before he turned his head away, hoping the other one wouldn’t catch him blushing. But hold on a second! Why was he reacting so weirdly due to Uruha’s words? From the trusting, innocent look on the boy’s face he could be certain that Uruha was only saying what he had said in a friendly term, so stop thinking otherwise already or you would cause more misunderstanding for your own trouble. The brunette made the metal note to himself before he hesitatingly turned back to Uruha once more before the latter got worry and suggested. “Well……I think next we should go for some breakfast, right?”
The response he got from Uruha was a brilliant smile and a happy nod.
The brunette couldn’t help smiling back, the embarrassment he had previously felt was gone completely, then he held Uruha up and they moved to the bathroom and took turn to perform the usual morning routines of washing and the likes. When he watched Uruha stepped into of the bathroom and closed the door behind him, Aoi made a note to himself to buy the boy some new clothes for Uruha after the breakfast.

Later in the morning, they left Aoi’s apartment and had their simple breakfast in a local food store nearby, the brunette didn’t realize how hungry he was until the food arrived and he remembered he hadn’t eaten in the previous night. Uruha finished the breakfast almost as eagerly as he did. After leaving the food store and Aoi brought the light hair boy with him to the supermarket down the block to buy the commodities for both of them. First he made the fast routine of buying foods to fill his empty refrigerator, after finishing the shopping in the supermarket, the two went to the shop next door to pick a couple of t-shirts, pants and the likes for the boy. During the selection Aoi was aware of how humble those clothes appeared to be comparing with the outfit Uruha had wore last night, dirtied up that they might now be, but still Aoi could tell they were clothes made of the finest materials. The brunette had shopped for clothing in that same shop before but he never felt this way. He was then suddenly feeling nervous of what Uruha might think about these clothes, but when he turned to the boy, he found that a shopkeeper was helping him to pick up some t-shirts and Uruha seemed to like what the shopkeeper had suggested for him. At the end they left the shop with Uruha smiling cheerfully at Aoi, and a bag filled with the new clothes for the light hair boy.
They didn’t go home immediately after the shopping, when the two of them walked pass a square with the view of the seashore Uruha liberally ran to there like an excited child, and Aoi didn’t have the heart to stop him, there seemed to be no need to hurry and his next work shift would start only after midday. So he followed the boy to the edge of the square, standing beside him to watch the scenery beside him. Shortly afterward they ended up walking along the sidewalk near the shoreline, and Uruha started to fill him with question every time he saw something new along the way, the brunette was surprised by Uruha’s seemingly endless curiosity but didn’t find his questions annoying. On the way home Aoi patiently showed him the way around the town he had settled in for the past few years.
To Aoi the town of which they were now walking in was just an ordinary place with an uninteresting view, but his friend looked particularly happy for being here, for being able to walk among the streets like he was in some kind of adventure, as if it was the first time he had even set foot in such place. That really made Aoi wondered again what had happened to his friend after he was taken away, but it was something he afraid of asking, for he had no idea how the boy would react.
“I like the place you’re living in, Aoi-kun. There are so many nice people here…” after a while Uruha commented to his friend, then after a pause he murmured softly, barely a whisper like it was some kind of second thought. ”There’re so many things here; everything is so lively….So unlike…that place…”
Aoi felt the shift of Uruha’s mood immediately after the last sentence escaped his own lips, suddenly the cheerfulness vanished from the boy and something like……sadness and fear creeping up to his aura.
“That place”? could it be where Uruha had been for all those years?
The brunette asked carefully. “What were you saying, Uruha kun?”
“Nothing!” Uruha shook his head quickly after if trying to shake the thought out of his mind, he turned to smile at Aoi again but this time his smile seemed forced.
It was enough signals for Aoi to know his friend didn’t wish the subject to be brought up again.
“Uruha kun, there’s something I want to ask…..”But once more Aoi found himself tring to bring the question up despite his better judgment, otherwise the suspense would suffocate him. “About last night, Uruha……why were you there? ”
More importantly, whom exactly were you running from? What did they do to you, Uruha?
“I don’t really know.” Uruha shook his head slowly, avoiding Aoi’s stare. The brunette thought their conversation had already came to an end, and couldn’t help cursing himself for ruining the peacefulness between them, but next Uruha turned back to him, and with his eyes still downcast the boy continued.
“Back then I didn’t really know why I went there……. but now, I think it was because I was waiting for you.”

Reita yearned as he walked down the corridor of the sanatorium but then quickly reminded himself to straighten up, it would be no more than one hour before his shift end, and he could go for his rest after his duty was done…
The blonde hair man had been working in this private sanatorium as a trainee worker for a few months already, his duty was to help the nurses to care for the patients, who mostly happened to be elderly people came from upper class families that could afford sending their loved ones here, so they might enjoy the service of specialists. The work wasn’t an easy one but it paid well, so Reita worked as hard as he could to make sure he could keep his position and maybe someday becoming a formal employee.
Today he was on his way to finish his routine check of the patients under his charge, and down the next corner he would get to the ward where his last patient for today was.
Naturally Reita’s mind wandered to the patient he was about to see soon, surprisingly it was a young man instead of the elderly he used to work for. For all Reita knew the young patient was Sakamoto Takashi, nothing more was made known to a mere trainee such as Reita. According to the other nurses and their gossips(the nurses in his work place used to pay extra attention to Sakamoto san, and it didn’t take a genius to guess that it was partly because of the patient’s youthfulness and his good look), Sakamoto san had been in coma for two years; un until now the doctors who were in charge of him had failed to find out what was wrong with him since beside not able to wake up, Sakamoto’s physical condition appeared to be perfectly normal. So the mystery of his coma remained unsolved, the youth was transformed to this sanatorium to be continually cared for by the specialists.
The blonde hair man was about to push the door to Sakamoto’s ward open before he stopped himself at the last moment, as he noticed that the door was only half closed and he heard someone talking inside the ward. He didn’t remember being informed about visitors today.
Reita stopped before the door, and from what he could overhear there seemed to be two persons engaging in a conversation---no, it was more likely an argument, within Sakamoto’s ward. Who could it be? Curiosity quickly got the better of him and Reita found himself listened closely to what the two unknown persons were arguing about……
