Aoi could already feel ray of sunlight blinding him even before he slowly opened his eyes, then with a soft murmur he turned his face aside to avoid the light. Again it felt strange to wake up and for a second Aoi couldn’t tell what was out of ordinary, but as soon as he shifted slightly and felt another warm body beside him, his memory returned without any hitch.
He looked down and a mass of light brown hair coming into his view, seemingly that Uruha had fallen into sleep with his head resting on his shoulder last night. This time they weren’t in the living room, instead they had shared the same futon for the night. Last night after coming home from his night shift, Aoi found Uruha had already unwrapped the futon, setting it on his bedroom’s floor together with his blanket covering it. Before the brunette could figure out their sleeping arrangement for the night, the youth had made the shy suggestion of sharing the futon so they might get as comfortable as they could. Aoi almost could feel his cheeks heated up at what the youth had innocently suggested to him but once again he forced himself not to think any further than necessary. He quickly reminded himself it wasn’t the first time they slept beside each other under the same blanket. Long ago they used to sleep in the same narrow bed back in those cold winter nights when they were still trapped in this ophanage. There was nothing for him to feel uneasy or nervous about, it was just like old time and they were the only companion for each other……but last night long after he turned off the night and crawled under the blanket with Uruha next to him, Aoi had a hard time falling into sleep.

As it turned out, despite the futon and the warm blanket, last night wasn’t actually a good-night rest for the brunette, but once he woke up in the morning and found Uruha sleeping form clinging beside him, the discomfort of last night could all be forgotten, and a strange sense of calm and joy filling his heart. He couldn’t recall experiencing the same light-hearted feeling for such a long, long time.

So far Uruha showed no sign of waking up, and left the brunette to admire his sleeping figure with ease, before long Aoi’s fingers found their way lazily playing with locks of brown hair. It was new to Aoi to wake up like this, usually he just got himself out of the futon without a thought as soon as he was woke up by his alarm, but right now there was no noise from the alarm clock, no rush to be hurry, nothing for him to worry himself with just yet. And he took the chance fully to enjoy the peacefulness of simply being with Uruha, and there was the familiarity there as well; almost like he had been waking up in the same way for years even in fact he hadn’t.

But soon he would have to get himself up, ready for the start of another day, also he had to wake Uruha up so they could began their morning routines together before Aoi had to leave for work. None of these things were the subject that Aoi wanted to be worrying himself with, even though he knew too well that reality was waiting right outside of his shabby apartment and in reality, there were plenty of things for him to be worrying and wondering about; most of them related to one certain person, someone whom had longed to meet again for so long and had grown to care deeply about within the short period of time they had spent together, Uruha.

He was happy to have Uruha by his side, he couldn’t deny this; and Uruha seemed to be happy in his companion as well; but there was still too many things that Aoi was uncertain about when it came to his childhood friend, there were too many things left without any explanation when it came to Uruha and the suspense was suffocating the brunette, little by little it was shadowing over his new found happiness. There was something, some question that he can’t get his mind off with.

For how long Uruha was going to stay here? The brunette would like the answer to be always, but deep down his heart he doubted it was possible. If he had the courage Aoi might ask even more questions, he would ask whether Uruha would want to stay, whether the boy would want to stay with him. Those were the questions which he knew needed to be answered but he never could bring himself to mention to the other man.
On the other hand, Aoi was deeply worry that once those questions slipped off from his mouth, the fragile happiness they shared would be shuddered. Like something dramatic would happen once he uttered his doubts out loud and Uruha would just……disappear once again if he did that.

It had been two days since he brought Uruha away from that orphanage, it also meant Uruha had since then been vanished from wherever place he lived for two days already. Aoi wondered what his family would react to the boy’s disappearance, but so far there was no news mentioning the disappearance of a certain member of the Takashima Family when he read the newspapers; yesterday he even checked the missing persons list outside the police station on his way back home, but among those faces he couldn’t find Uruha’s. Did it mean so far no one had reported Uruha’s disappearance to the authority yet? If Uruha had still not been officially reported as missing by those whom he lived with, what would their motivation be?

Was he afraid? Aoi asked himself. Frightened by the possibilities of Uruha leaving him behind and the chance of him being taken away from him again? Still why was he afraid of losing the light hair boy? They had just met again two days ago! The answer was lurking at the back of his head but he couldn’t bring himself to face it yet.

The sleeping figure in his arms stretched slightly in his slumber, Aoi moved his hand down to the small of Uruha’s back, bringing him closer to his own body and closed his eyes. At this moment he decided all the other things and his troubles could wait, he didn’t want to bother himself with them when Uruha was so close, so real; he would keep Uruha as long as the latter was willing to stay.

A day after the incident with Sakamoto san’s visitors, the memory of this incident had already become blurry in Reita’s mind, the conversations he had overheard outside of the door was indeed a strange one but it wasn’t the first time the blonde had seen or heard strange things in his workplace. He’d got a day break from his work and remembering he hadn’t met with Aoi for sometime, the blonde decided to call his friend to check out what the other man was up to, and whether Aoi had free time so they might get together to practice or just hanging around for good.

He walked upstairs to the floor where his friend’s apartment was located and knocked on the door, before the door was finally opened Reita was surprised to find that he could hear some noise from the apartment, like there were two persons laughing together, one of them was Aoi’s voice and the other was an unfamiliar voice to him. That was unusual, Aoi lived alone and he wasn’t known to bring company to his own apartment. It definitely raised Reita’s curiosity, was Aoi having a guest in his home? And the blonde could not think of anyone he knew who could make Aoi laughed like he did now.

Finally Reita could hear footsteps approaching before the door was opened from inside, Reita wasn’t surprised to find himself facing Aoi, a hint of smile fading from his face before it was replaced by a frozen, surprised look on his face. The brunette paused for a moment too long before he could manage to react by greeting his blonde friend like he normally would.

“Reita chan!” Aoi began, but the hesitation and uncertainty lingering in his tone didn’t escape Reita’s observation. “I…..actually I don’t expect you to come today…”
“Am I welcomed here?” Reita asked as playfully as he could, with a bright smile on his face. “Or am I showing up in a bad time?”

the brunette seemed to be taken aback by his friend’s question, but soon he smiled back nervously, stepping back to let Reita come in. “…No! Of course not! What made you think that---”

His voice dead down as he turned his head and caught sight of another figure walking toward them. Reita followed his sight and he saw the pretty youth with light brown hair for the first time. The newcomer looked young, probably a few years younger than he and Aoi, and it was hard not to notice how pretty the boy looked even when he was wearing nothing but plain-looking t-shirt and jeans. But there seemed to be something strange about that boy-beside him being in Aoi’s home, the look he had on his face when he showed up, it was a look of deep worry and anxiety as if he was afraid of what he might find appearing in front of the main door. The tensed expression appeared for only a second before it vanished completely, relief made itself known as the youth could be sure that Reita wasn’t a threat. The blonde briefly wondered whether Aoi had noticed the shift of different emotion displaying on the boy’s face as well before he patted his friend by the shoulder to draw his attention back to himself.
“Huh, Aoi chan…who’s that?” The blonde asked after Aoi had turned his head back to him, looking quite confused.

Then Aoi watched him for a moment longer before turning back to the boy, who had been quiet for the whole time, now the light hair boy was staring back at Aoi as if he was waiting for the latter to say, or explain something.

“He’s Uruha, Reita chan.” The brunette made the introduction finally, after a pause he added on. ”He’s a……a friend of mine, you see.”

Reita raised an eyebrow at the reply. Not only that he had never heard of Aoi befriending such a pretty boy. During the time he knew the brunette he had never seen Aoi being like this, so nervous around any of his friends. At the back of his mind he wondered why the name Uruha brought a sense of familiarity to him. But he decided he would question Aoi about this later.

After both he and Reita had moved into the living room, Aoi had no choice but to introduce Reita to Uruha.

“Uruha kun, this is Reita chan.”

Uruha kun, Reita made a mental note for himself to later tease Aoi with as he was guided by the brunette to walk further into the apartment.

By now Uruha had already looked much more relaxed and he smiled at Reita and said. “Nice to me you Reita chan. Are you Aoi kun’s friend?”

“Yes, I am. Nice to meet you too, Uruha chan.” The blonde replied and after that the uncertainty had vanished from the air around them, once again everything was settled, at least almost.

“So…may I ask one more question, Aoi chan?” Reita asked his friend after Aoi shut the door to his own apartment, the three of them had just finishing lunch in Aoi’s house, Aoi was relieved to see Reita and Uruha getting quite along together. Around noon Reita had decided it was time to leave, Aoi offered to walk with him to the main street.
“What is it?” the brunette replied without saying yes or no to the question.
“Who’s Uruha kun actually?” Reita asked with a mischievous smirk on his face.
Aoi shrugged at the question, but uneasiness was slowly creeping up in him, he didn’t want to answer this seemingly simple question, in fact he didn’t want Reita, or anyone else for that matter, to be asking questions about Uruha at all; even when he knew sooner or latter he would have to face similar question in other similar situations.

“I’d already told you, he’s my friend.” Aoi answered the question with the only fact he knew about Uruha, in the most neutral tone he could manage. Maybe he disliked Reita asking about the light hair boy because he was afraid to face the fact that he actually knew so little about Uruha……

“Friend?” what kind of *friend* actually?” the mischievous in Reita’s smiling face only seemed to grow. He almost could swear there was much, much more than mere friendly affection in the way Aoi looking at the fragile-looking boy.

Aoi replied simply. “A friend I hadn’t been seeing for a long time. That’s it.”

“Oh, if you said so~~” The blonde replied in a sing-song tone as Aoi frowned at him half out of annoyance.
Ignoring the gaze that the brunette was giving him, Reita continued to say playfully before he left. “But he’s so cute Aoi chan! If I had an old friend like this I definitely wouldn’t waste the chance! Bye bye”

At first Aoi was slightly taken aback as Reita called the light hair boy “cute”, but at the end a sigh escaped from him. Reita had made things sound so easy, if only he knew the truth and the dilemma the brunette had found himself in……

Tbc…
Another chapter, but where the plot would lead to…I still am not so sure.*dead* after the sub-plot with Alice Nine now I’m toying with the idea of bringing Uruha’s father up to the front, but who should play this father-role? I’m not sure, would anyone be kind enough to give me some suggestion?
