Chapter 10 He ran as fast as he could, in a speed he wasn’t aware he was capable of as he held Yuichi’s phone tightly. “I’m coming, Aniki… Hold on…”
He felt like it was taking him forever to get there, each second as if stretching into hours. He couldn’t even count the number of empty alleys he passed as he ran. His phone started ringing making him stop in his tracks.
“Tanaka, I hate to ruin your break but this is an emergency. We got a call from the Iwanada clan. They have Waka right now.”
“I know, I received a call from him just before he was abducted. I’m on my way to their hide-out now.”
“Wait, how did you know where to find them?”
“Long story, Haru. I need to save him now.”
“Wait, you can’t go there just by yourself, idiot. You’re outnumbered. We’ll be there for back-up, wait for us. We’re on our way.”
“No time, Haru. He needs me. Just get there as soon as you can.” Koki closed his phone and started running again.
~**~
Koki stood in front of the abandoned warehouse, walking back and forth as he searched for a door or any opening where he could sneak in. Just then 2 black limousines came screeching and stopped right in front of the warehouse. Haru was the first to come out of the 1st car followed by Mori from the second car. Soon, Koki was joined in by other members of their gang.
Koki smirked at his company. “You guys are fast.”
“We drove by car. Don’t tell me you ran all the way here?” Haru gave him a cynical look. When Koki didn’t answer, he slapped him in the head. “You’re the most stupid hero there is.”
Koki made a face. “C’mon, we’re wasting time.”
With that, three other members of the gang forced the front entrance to open and they all marched inside.
“See, when you’re with the whole gang, you don’t need to sneak in and hide in shadows. That’s what numbers can do.” Haru commented again then Mori chuckled in agreement and Koki could only roll his eyes.
“Let me go! You bunch of idiots!!!”
Koki’s vision turned red when he heard that screaming voice just a few meters away. He never had the urge to kill anyone in his entire life until now. He walked ahead of everyone as the urge to rescue Yuichi took a step higher.
He flared up the moment he saw a couple of men surrounding and trying to hold Yuichi down. “OMAERA!” Koki bellowed with glaring eyes.
Yuichi spun his head when he heard his voice. “Koki…”
“If you value your life, it’s best that you let him go NOW.” Koki warned and now Haru and the others were walking just right behind him.
“Who are you? His knight in shining armor?” Genta let go of his hold on Yuichi and let someone else take his place and walked to meet Koki.
“That one too… But more importantly, I’m someone who can break your neck in case you even try to lay your dirty hand on him.”
“Oh… I’m scared for dear life.” Genta mocked and waved a hand to signal the other two men to bring Yuichi over. They dragged Yuichi forward who just followed helplessly, tired from all the resistance he’s been doing for the past hour.
“I’m dead serious. Touch him and you’ll rue it.” Koki warned again taking a step closer to them.
Genta smirked with challenging eyes. “You mean like this?” He raised a hand, stretching out to touch Yuichi’s face and the latter automatically leaned away but his captors held him firmly. And before Genta’s fingertips could come in contact with any patch of Yuichi’s skin, Koki had grabbed his wrist and pushed him forcefully to the nearest wall.
“Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.” Koki gritted his teeth before throwing a hard punch on Genta, square on the jaw sending him to the ground.
That move sent all other men in the abandoned warehouse in action. Even the two dumb guys holding Yuichi let him go just to participate in the gang war and the very instant that Yuichi was released, he immediately ran to Koki who was apparently also running to his direction.
With the urge of something he can’t explain, Yuichi let himself be wrapped in Koki’s arms and since his hands were still tied he could only lean onto Koki and let his head drop on the other’s shoulder.
Koki held him tight stroking his back to soothe him. The older man was shaking in his arms.
“Koki…” He heard him mumble softly. “It’s okay… Ssshh… I’m here now.” He pulled away to look him in the eyes. “Are you alright? Did they hurt you?” Yuichi shook his head. “Are you sure?”
Yuichi nodded but his eyes instantly grew wide what he saw behind Koki. “Koki, behind you.” He blurted out and just exactly as Koki turned his head, he was hit by something heavy and solid and instantly fell on his knees with a dizzy head. He slowly ran his hand on the newly-formed lump on his head.
“You don’t mess with me.” Genta looked down at him, a gun in his hand.
Koki’s head was still spinning and he was about to get on his feet again when he saw Genta trying to drag Yuichi with him again. He collected himself again managed to get back on Yuichi’s attacker, taking a quick move to seize the other’s hand that was holding the gun. Koki made swift moves surprising both Yuichi and Genta. In seconds, Koki had twisted Genta’s arm behind his back and the gun fell on the ground. Another firm twist and sound of bones breaking were heard next.
“You should be thankful it’s just your arm.” Koki quickly picked up the gun, grabbed Yuichi’s hand and started running while Genta was still cringing in pain with his broken arm. “Haru, we’ll meet you back in the mansion!” He shouted to Haru who has managed to beat about 4 members from the Iwanada clan. Haru just nodded and Koki started running with Yuichi.
They haven’t gone too far when 3 men from the Iwanadas appeared, catching both of them off-guard and attacked Koki all at the same time. The gun he was holding was snatched from him and he was taken on both arms by two of the men while the other started throwing punches on his face and his gut.
Yuichi was in shock that he barely moved at all, staring helplessly at Koki’s torture. When he moved to hit the man punching Koki, he was only shoved away forcefully.
“Don’t hurt him.” Koki shouted angrily. The guy attacking him smirked, grazing the gun on his jaw. Koki gritted his teeth at the feel of the cold metal on his cheek and when the guy in front of him made a wrong move by stepping back and looking away, Koki took his chance as he used those arms holding him down as support, lifting himself and kicking the gun from his attacker’s grip sending the gun sliding across the floor. Koki swiftly twirled his body after that entangling the two men holding him.
“Yucchi, get the gun!!!”
Yuichi quickly dashed for the gun on the floor holding it with his shaking hands. He stood up and pointed it to the guy who punched Koki. “Don’t come near me. I swear I’ll shoot you if you take another step.” Yuichi warned, trying to control his shaking voice and shaking arms. Never in his entire life had he handled a gun and he never intended to hold one. But at the moment he didn’t have much choice.
Meanwhile, Koki managed to punch the two men out of their wits and quickly ran to help Yuichi. Using the same technique he used on Genta, Koki attacked from behind, twisting the other man’s arm and breaking it before knocking him out.
“Give me the gun.” Koki ordered taking the said weapon from Yuichi’s hands. He inserted it behind his pants and quickly untangled the ropes that tied Yuichi’s hands.
“Throw the gun away.” Yuichi had told him when they were close to an exit point of the large warehouse.
“I can’t. We might still need it later on. We are not safe until we get away from here.”
“It’s a goddamn gun! Do you intend on firing it to someone?”
“If the situation calls for it, I will.”
“Are you stupid? Not because you’re now a high member of the clan that doesn’t mean you have to be a bad-ass yakuza like those guys.” Yuichi had stopped walking, waiting for Koki to leave the gun right there.
“Would you not shout? If another bunch of those men find us again… I don’t know how much longer I could last.”
“Leave that gun first!”
“I said stop shouting.”
“If you’re not leaving it, I’ll get it by myself.” Yuichi insisted trying to reach behind Koki to get the gun.
“Shut up.” Koki was already losing his patience and Yuichi wouldn’t stop rambling until Koki heard footsteps. “Shhh…” Koki pulled the taller man to hide behind the piles of boxes.
“Why won’t you listen to me?” Yuichi ranted again and Koki knew he had it. “Give that stupid gun to --- umf…” Yuichi’s eyes widened then he blinked. It can’t be his imagination, he could feel it. His knees went jelly-like for a moment. Koki’s lips were soft and sweet the few seconds lasted like eternity as Yuichi closed his eyes and melted in the kiss.
It wasn’t anything near sensual, Koki merely placed his lips on top of Yuichi’s to shut him up. That’s all… But he can’t deny how much he likes the feeling because Yuichi’s lips were incredibly soft. And to hell if he was taking advantage, he saved the taller man anyway.
When Koki pulled away, there were no more footsteps so he sighed in relief but when he looked up at Yuichi, the other still had his eyes closed. “They’re gone. Let’s go.” Koki quickly pulled Yuichi to the exit, diverting the situation before realization could sink into Yuichi and before he could freak out. Yuichi just followed absent-mindedly.
And like a blessing from heaven, a motorbike was waiting just outside and Koki hopped onto it quickly, instructing Yuichi to sit right behind him. He started the engine for their perfect escape.
“There they are!” a voice exclaimed and they both looked back. Koki pulled out the gun and started firing but only aimed on the ground just to scare them away until they’ve gotten far to be followed. Yuichi was so startled with the gunshots that he unconsciously wrapped his arms around Koki’s waist and buried his face on the other’s back.
“See, that’s the use I was talking about.” Koki declared proudly when they were speeding on the bridge before finally tossing the gun to drown in the river.
Yuichi didn’t answer… still in the spell of Koki’s kiss.
~**~
“Are you okay? Did they hurt you?” Shinohara walked around Yuichi to check for any signs that his son was harmed.
Yuichi just shook his head. He had been unusually silent since they got home.
“Good...” He assured his son. “Tanaka, you’re injured.” The boss then turned to check on Koki.
Koki reached for his cheek and touched the fresh bruises. “It’s nothing, Boss. This would heal in a week.”
“Okay. It’s good that no one’s seriously hurt. But I still won’t let those Iwanadas get away with this. The both of you can go now.” The two young men bowed at the same time when they were dismissed.
“YOU…” Yuichi said suddenly as they walked out of the large mansion.
Koki glanced at him questioningly, “me?”
“Yes, you.” Yuichi’s gaze turned to a glare. “You just stole a kiss from me.”
Koki froze right then, he thought he got away from it already. “That… well… I had to shut you up.” He defended.
“Ah…” Yuichi gaped. “That’s a pretty nice excuse.” He answered sarcastically.
“Cut the crap, Aniki. That was just a kiss.” Koki hissed in annoyance.
Yuichi’s jaw dropped. He wanted to slap Koki really hard. He collected himself and fixed his eyes on Koki. “FYI, that one you just stole was my first kiss and FYI again, I fucking hate you right now.” He huffed and turned away, walking back to the smaller house. He stopped midway and turned to Koki again. “And I’m still mad with that gun thing!” He shouted again to a still very surprised Koki.
~**~
“I saved you from those kidnappers and all I get from you are those hissfits.” Koki sighed and slumped on the couch. Yuichi was currently rummaging something in the kitchen cupboards, looking fresh after a quick shower. After a minute or so, he sat beside Koki on the couch settling a box, which Koki presumed to be first aid kit, on the center table.
“Thank You.” Yuichi muttered softly without looking at Koki. He took out a cottonball and poured some alcohol on it. He moved a hand to hold Koki’s face steady and started dabbing the disinfectant on the other’s bruised cheeks.
“Ouch!!!” Koki tried to jerk away with the stinging feeling but Yuichi was holding his face firmly.
“Don’t move. I’m cleaning your bruises.” He then dabbed the cotton lightly to decrease the pain. “Thank you.” He repeated loud enough to be heard.
Koki smiled and was thankful that Yuichi wasn’t looking at him now that he can feel his ears getting all warm. “It’s okay, I was just joking.”
“But I really SHOULD thank you. If you hadn’t come in time, I… I don’t even want to think what could’ve happened to me.” Yuichi let his hand drop.
“I won’t ever forgive myself if something happened to you.” Koki told him honestly.
Yuichi looked up and smiled at Koki gratefully. He brought his hand back up and carried on cleaning Koki’s bruises. “Okay. So since I owe you one… I’ll let you go with that gun issue. But I still don’t forgive you for stealing my first kiss. You idiot.” He pouted and dabbed the cotton a little too harder.
“Ow.” Koki winced then held Yuichi’s wrist in his hand. “Anou…” He started nervously looking at Yuichi, “If… if I do it properly, would you forgive me then?”
Yuichi stared at him with wide eyes, trying to make sense at what Koki just said but even before he could muster it, Koki was already leaning closer. “Oi…” he tried to say but it came out as a squeak.
And then their lips met. Yuichi tried to pull away but Koki was holding the back of his neck firmly, as he sucked the taller man’s lower lip. Knowing that his resistance would be useless, Yuichi just closed his eyes and let Koki taste his mouth. Koki was being gentle after all, doing no other action besides holding the base of Yuichi’s neck as they deepened the kiss.
Koki dipped his tongue in when he felt Yuichi open up for him. He kissed him languidly, there was no need to rush; he just wanted to savor the sweetness of Yuichi’s lips and mouth. In his mind, he wanted Yuichi to have a very memorable first kiss.
When they pulled away for air, Yuichi can’t look at him in the eyes.
“Yuichi… I…” Koki wanted to confess, he wanted to let the other know that it wasn’t a meaningless kiss.
“It’s okay. You’re just tired. Go to sleep.” Yuichi cut him off, getting on his feet to leave. “I think I need to get a rest too.” And with that he walked quickly to his room.
“Aniki, wait.” Koki followed him to the door.
“Goodnight.” He said quietly before closing the door.
Koki sighed, staring blankly on the door. He turned around and headed for the shower.
Yuichi laid in his bed, curling up and hugging his pillow. He can’t will himself to sleep. He touched his lips and could still feel the taste of his first real kiss.
