“Ehem…” Koki cleared his throat. “Where exactly are we going, Sir?” He questioned after swallowing the lump in his throat, holding tight on his seat.
“Just call me Haru or Masaharu… whichever works for you.” The tall man answered as he kept his eyes on the road.
“Ah, hai. Haru-san.” Koki nodded awkwardly adding his discomfort being in a limousine that is being driven like it was some race car.
“You can take out the -san as well. No need to be formal, kid.”
“O---kay…. But where are we going again? Are we chasing someone? Are we after someone from the rival clan?”
The limo screeched to a stop as the traffic lights turned red.
“Do you have any idea what you’ve gotten yourself into?”
Koki scratched his head, “Well, sorta… but I still have lots of question marks in my head right now though.”
Haru sighed, patting Koki by the shoulder. “Kid, you just tied yourself with one of the most powerful yakuza clans in Japan.”
“That part, I kinda figured out a little while ago. I was hoping you could tell me more though.”
“Like what?”
“I don’t even know the name of the clan where I belong.” Koki’s lips almost formed a pout.
“Bakayarou.” Haru grumbled. “You accept a job without any knowledge of your boss and what you will do???”
“I am in desperate need of a job. Your boss is an answered prayer. I’m a fast learner you know… I can catch up with whatever there is to learn about this organization. And I am very much willing to devote my loyalty to the group as my way of gratitude.”
“Maaah~ no wonder Boss trusted you enough to let you join the group.”
“Hah?!”
“Boss is good in reading people. He must’ve sensed that you deserve to be here.”
“I don’t get you at all.”
“But soon enough, you will.” Haru chuckled before speeding off again.
“Ne, about the Boss, I don’t even know his name.” Koki realized in the middle of their ride.
“Ah, that. We are serving the Nakamaru family, otherwise known as the Golden Tiger Group in the underground.”
“Woah!!! I’ve heard about you guys!” Koki announce with awe, pointing a finger at Haru.
“Baka, you’re one of us now.”
“Oh, right… Uwah~ so cool!!!” Koki grinned with his realization.
“Our boss, the man you saved, is Nakamaru Shinohara. He’s the 4th generation leader.”
“Sou ka.” Koki grinned yet again, “I feel like I’m in classic yakuza movies.”
Koki’s orientation was cut off with a ringing cellphone.
“Ah, chotto.” Haru fished out the phone from his pocket and handed it to Koki.
“Eh?” Koki looked at Haru then to the ringing phone then back to Haru.
“Answer it! I’m driving!”
“Ah, hai.” Koki then grabbed the phone and flipped it open. “Moshimoshi.”
…
“Eh?” Koki blinked when the other line was cut.
“What?” Haru asked impatiently.
“Anou… the guy only said something about a ramen shop.”
“What shop?”
“Fujima’s Ramen.”
“Wakatta.” With that, Haru immediately turned on the next curve.

Haru and Koki got off the limo and soon, other ‘men in black’, as Koki had tagged them, appeared out of nowhere.
“Omae!” the familiar tall man with sunglasses pointed at Koki and the latter bowed realizing it was the man from the hospital. “What is he doing here?” he then turned to Haru.
“New recruit.” Haru answered simply.
“Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!” Koki bowed again making the man in sunglasses laugh.
“Mori desu. And you?”
“Tanaka Koki desu.” Koki smiled, this Mori guy was more cheerful and enthusiastic than Haru.
“Where is he?” Haru cut them off.
“There.” Mori turned his back and pointed with his mouth.
From where he was, Koki could see a young man around his age carrying packed ramen and putting them in the delivery van.
“Let’s go.” Haru announced before walking to the man’s direction. As they cam nearer, the man looked up and had a troubled expression on his face upon seeing them.
Koki somehow got confused. How could this weak looking guy cause trouble to the group and have all these men looking for him? Mori walked over the young man who even tried to run in the van but Mori quickly took him by the collar, dragging him in front of the gang. The other men made sure he was surrounded before Mori let go of him.
“Waka!” Haru exclaimed before bowing down the yakuza way.
“Young Master, please return home.” Mori said next before bowing down himself and then the others followed suit.
Koki though remaines standing until Haru pulled him down to bow. “Who is he?” Koki whispered, peering up to take a glance.
“I’m not coming with you.” The man answered sternly, getting Haru’s attention away from Koki.
“Please Young Master. Your father is now on the way home from the hospital. He was hospitalized this morning due to high blood pressure. He got overly worried when you ran away again.” Mori explained.
The young man stayed silent for a while before continuing, “I don’t care. Now leave me alone.”
“Young Master, don’t force us to drag you back again.” Haru warned, walking close to the man.
“Fine.” The young man huffed walking to the limo’s direction bumping Koki along the way. He stopped short only to glare at Koki. “Out of my way. Baka.” He grumbled with a raised eyebrow.
Koki gritted his teeth. ‘What’s with this guy? Much of attitude problems…’ he thought but found himself muttering “Gomen” as he stepped back. The young man only rolled his eyes before walking past him and into the chic car.
It was only then that Haru and the others heaved out a sigh, each retreating to different cars.
“Okay… So could you answer my question now?” Koki asked again like a curious child. “Just who was that?”
“Young Master Nakamaru Yuichi. The next leader of our clan.”
“That guy?!?” Koki’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Yes, that stubborn guy. He refuses to take Boss’ place though, so he always runs away. So he doesn’t have to take over.”
“Why won’t he?”
“He has his own issues.” Haru sighed again, “Ja, let’s get going. Mori, call Boss and tell him that we’re on our way back. Tanaka, you go keep an eye on Waka.”
“Me?” Koki pointed at himself with much annoyance.
“Yes you! Now move.” Haru instructed and Koki followed helplessly, walking back to the far end of the car.
He timidly opened the door before giving a polite bow. “Sumimasen, I’m going in.” Koki announced and sat right in front of the sulking Yuichi.
“What are you doing?” Yuichi asked in irritation, moving away.
“I was told to keep an eye on you, Young Master.” Koki answered without looking and Yuichi huffed yet again.
When the car started moving, Yuichi spoke again, in a more kind tone this time. “I’ve never seen you before.”
“Uhm…” Koki gulped with the need to explain himself. “Tanaka Koki at your service.” Koki bowed again and Yuichi laughed in an almost mocking tone.
“I wasn’t asking for your name, baka…”
“Ah, gomen.” Koki scratched his head and looked away, making faces as he was called baka for the second time.
The rest of the ride was quiet. Occasionally, Koki would take a glance at Yuichi just to find the latter staring blankly out the window. Koki was definitely the not the type who can put up with spoiled brats and immature, selfish people, he was short-tempered ever since and people with such attitudes irk him the most. However, Koki thought that there must be something behind the prissy attitude the Young Master shows because as he stared at the other he can see that those eyes looked so sad. And if he’s going to work for this man, he knew he has to take off that mask to see the real Nakamaru Yuichi.
“Are you staring at me?” Yuichi’s voice shook him back to his senses.
“No. I just happened to look your way. Sorry.” Koki immediately looked away.
“You’re always saying sorry.”
“I am?”
“Yes. That’s even the first thing you said to me a while ago.”
“Ah… Is that so? Sorry.” Koki muttered.
“See, there you go again.” Yuichi nearly laughed pointing at Koki.
“And you are always calling me a baka.” Koki retaliated.
“I do? Well, you ARE.” Yuichi giggled which gave Koki a shock. The man could actually give off a positive expression.
“Hey… that was offensive.” Koki bumped his knee against Yuichi’s and mentally cursed himself after realizing just what he did.
Yuichi just stared at him for a while and Koki felt a single sweat drip from the corner of his forehead. He finally sighed, “Whatever, shut up.” He pouted before turning his gaze back out the window.
“Sorry, Young Master… I got carried away.” Koki bit his lip in guilt.
“That’s what I’m telling you, baka.” Yuichi bit his lip too… to stop himself from laughing.
