Look at all the boats! This is the Commonwealth Flotilla of over 250 boats which sailed up the Clyde today to celebrate the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. We didn't get to see the boats coming up the river as we were having a whale of the time at the rugby sevens, however we went down to Pacific Quay to see them afterwards. They looked

Earlier this week I had to go to Dundee for a work event so I took some time out to visit HMS Unicorn. Unicorn is a Leda class frigate built at Chatham dockyard and launched in 1824. Along with HMS Trincomalee she is one of only two frigates surviving in the UK from this era. Unicorn is particularly unusual as she has spent her entire existence

Ship models turn up at auction fairly frequently and often command astonishing sums. This one, which will be sold at auction by Christies next week, is a real beauty and is expected to fetch between £60,000 and £90,000!
