Ship models turn up at auction fairly frequently and often command astonishing sums. This one, which will be sold at auction by Christies next week, is a real beauty and is expected to fetch between £60,000 and £90,000!

Yes! She does look alive doesn't she? ! I wonder what she was like to sail?

We are very lucky the image is free, I'd have to ransom my granny to get any nearer to the real thing! The auction took place today, but there's no indication on the website of the selling price. I wonder how much she went for?

I suspect she was very fast! It's easy to forget that these beautiful ships were war machines of the highest technological sophistication.

A fitting command for a dashing young Master and Commander! At that scale, a large enough representation to allow great attention to detail.
