It was another busy weekend for The Gryphon and I, although this one involved work as well as fun. Saturday was mostly work, as we attended the election meeting for Otakon.

We got up bright and early, dropped the dog at the sitter, and arrived in Baltimore in time for the board of directors' meeting (The Gryphon being a member at large).

( Drama-free zone? At an Otakon meeting? Nah. )

This was my first year as a department head at Otakon, so The Gryphon and I arrived early. That way I could be prepared to handle anything that came up. We arrived Wednesday evening, after I'd spent a day of organizing things at home.

Now that I'm recovered from yesterday's migraine, I can write about Saturday, when Otakon held its wrap-up meeting. We traditionally a couple weeks after the convention, while things are still fresh in people's minds. We talk about how things went and how to improve in the future.

It's going to be fun typing this today, because I cut my left pinky pretty badly last night, rushing to make dinner. Never handle sharp knives when you're still recovering from Otakon!

Saturday was the last time the Otakon staff met before the convention, a session traditionally known as the Panic Meeting. It was held at the Holiday Inn in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The Gryphon and I got a ride down with The Dormouse on a wretchedly hot day, which is probably what we can expect at Otakon itself in a couple weeks.

We held another Girls' Weekend Out (GWO), this time with a different mix of women. I got to spend time with some people I hadn't seen in a while.
