The greatest thing happened today. I have a couple of students who really just drive me nuts. One of them is a girl that I know people have heard me bitch about- basketball player, entitled attitude, interrupts, etc. We really butt heads a lot. My new medication works pretty well, which is nice. However, when it wears off, it hits me with the most unbelievably awful pain. I hope I figure out the timing soon. I also need to go to the chiropractor, because some of this pain is muscular- tightness in my back and shoulders that I just need to get rid of.

One Fentanyl patch wasn't working, so Doc and the nurse at my oncologists' office suggested I try two. That improves the pain, but doesn't take it away completely. Oh, but it does make me sicker than I've been in a long, long, time. All I've done today is sleep and vomit. I have a new painkiller. It's a Fentanyl patch, and I wear it all the time, putting on a new one every three days. It absolutely works as far as relieving the pain, which is fabulous. However, it is making me so sleepy! Since Vicodin no longer makes me drowsy, they said I'd probably be fine, still be able to work, and able to do just about anything ( Read more... )

Last week, Doc put me on a nightly cocktail of 2 Aleve, 2 Vicodin, and 2 Temazepam (sleeping pills). Look who's still awake! Well, I did get a half hour of sleep before waking up. Not only that, but now I'm cranky because our DVR had some sort of glitch tonight, so it recorded American Idol, but not Dancing With the Stars or Big Brother. I know I ( Read more... )

I have the weirdest symptom right now. The side of my right thigh is numb. It feels like someone injected it with Novocaine. I asked Doc (Brent's dad, who is my official "primary care physician") if I should be worried about it, and he didn't think so. I'm going to call my oncologists' office tomorrow, though.
