This year was kind of a waste. I really didn't do anything I thought I'd get done. The only really good/exciting thing was going to Israel and the West Bank.

But things are looking up for 2012. I'll actually start doing something productive with my life! And maybe I'll get around to some of the things I didn't manage last year.

I spent the last few weeks serving on a jury in a murder trial at the Regional Justice Center in Kent. I wrote this as things happened, mostly for me (since I wasn't allowed to talk about it with anyone), but here it is if any one cares to read it.

I'm almost done with my dissertation! Which is good, since it's due Wednesday. It's so weird to be finishing my school year when so many of my friends are starting theirs this week. Yay for grad school in London ( Read more... )

I got back from Greece a couple days ago. I met up with K there after she'd been in Israel for three weeks. We were in Athens, then went to Santorini then Crete, and we had fun geeking out over the ancient sites, including the Acropolis, the Agora, the Palace of Knossos and Malia Palace. Looks like we've got a Tory PM here. I'm guessing it will be a minority government, because I can't see Lib-Dem actually forming a coalition with them. I am kind of excited it's a hung parliament (as a politics student from a non-parliamentary system), but I'm sad Labour and LD can't form a coalition with a majority, which is what I would have ( Read more... )

I am avoiding studying. I made a schedule for this month, but we're now four days in and I have not done a good job of sticking to it. Oh well. I went to a review session for SO today that was largely unhelpful, and I'm going to a CP one tomorrow (even though it's at a ridiculously early hour) which I'm hoping may serve as motivation ( Read more... )

I'm back from Paris! The trip was quite fun. Traveling with children is something of an adventure. We went to Versailles and saw the Catacombs, and we did Easter Mass at Sacre Coeur (and I actually understood most of the service... not sure what that says about my French education. I am so glad this semester is almost over. I've had so much work: I've had a 2000-word-plus essay or a 15 minute presentation every week, and only one thing I've handed in matters for my grade.
