It may be unwise of us to use what stocks we have rashly, or to any excess, but Myhrta and Thereth both made prudent suggestions. Now that the housing is notably more secure, thanks to the efforts of the community, we may serve newcomers better by ensuring they are provided with basic supplies and a more composed welcome. Some arriving here quickly ( Read more... )

Hey, that is a pretty good idea. Would it be made up as part of the Watch, or a different group of people?

It may be better to limit it to those outside of the Watch - purely to avoid any conflict of duty that could arrive. Of course, if we had a lack of volunteers from the rest of the residents, this could likely be worked around.

Huh... yeah, that makes sense, I guess.

Do you have anything to bring to the table, Yosuke?

[Because he cares about your thoughts, naturally.]

I was starting to think that you had forgotten about our little game.

[A sickness rushes over the young emperor's body upon seeing the prince's face, the subtle change in his expression from addressing the populous of Demeleier to addressing his younger brother. He dislikes the way he addressed the others, with a pleasant smile on his face, always his duty to please those around him. The warmth of Schneizel's pleasant smile is smothered by a sudden coldness in his eyes, the change insignificant to most... but not to Lelouch.

He carefully selects the mask he wishes to wear during their conversation, surveying his options as if they were displayed before him.

A small smile, his eyes sparkle with a bit of sarcasm.]

I've nothing on my schedule for tonight, but are you sure you can set aside time for your younger brother? It seems your plate is quite full at the moment.

[His own expression turns almost fond at the simple hostility that ebbs so inexorably from his little brother. Over the feed, he meets his eyes, his voice still quite warm, with a note of teasing (mockery, perhaps?) that suggests challenge.]

Lelouch, you should know that I am always willing to make time. Especially for something long overdue.

[His smile grows a little more mirthful, his eyes holding some languid humour, as if for a private joke. He sets the king back down, and the tap of the piece onto the board itself is another little challenge.]

Is the inn acceptable?

The inn? A neutral playing field is a splendid idea... I do enjoy the possibility of a live audience, it seems to make the game that much more challenging.

[The small smile remained, his mask still hiding the ever present animosity]

What time would be best for you? I don't want to interfere in your responsibilities and other engagements you may already have planned.

[That and your penchant for theatrics, of course.

Knowing that in at least one future he loses to this brother, this boy, he cannot help but admire the speed and knowledge such a thing would have required. These smiles are a little show of it, hiding so much so well, as they do, but they are very much for other eyes.

Schneizel isn't fooled, naturally. But he is as indulgent as ever.]

Does seven suit your schedule?

I have to agree that something like a welcome committe could be useful, especially since people who end up here arrive in such an.. unusual place, if comparing it to what I'm used to back home is any comparision. I'm not sure if there would be enough people available for it though with all the other tasks here.

[ This might be the point where another person would volunteer for it, but what is this volunteering thing you speak of. Unsocial forever. Welp, time for a subject change! ]

I'm sort of surprised people play chess even in this place.

It seems that the majority of us find Demeleier an unusual setting, and often contradictory to what we've been lead to expect of faeries. It's true that we undertake a great deal of work, but I believe that this is just as worthy a cause, and it wouldn't take a great number.

[Though businesslike for such a topic, he smiles, a little more cordial, when she changes the subject.]

Oh? Do you play, miss?

I doubt many of us have had run ins with faeries before we came to this place either way, whether it's the idealised variant for kids or the ones here. ... Then again, I wouldn't have been very surprised if I had seen those too back home. [ You know. Witches, faeries, all the same. ]

I do. My mother was always a big fan so I learned to play as well eventually. I haven't played in a while though, so I might be a little bit rusty by now.

Well, this place certainly teaches us not to rely on expectation and assumption.

[Silver lining and all that, not that Schneizel needed the lesson, meticulous and careful as he is.]

If you would like to try your hand, I wouldn't turn away the prospect of a new opponent.

[On the chess board, of course.]

He smiles again, well-humoured.]

A welcome committee? Not that I think it's a bad idea, but how would the logistics of a thing like that work? You seem to be good at coming up with ways to better acclimatize us aliens to a place like this. [He's not smiling, but his expression is suggestive enough of a pleasant disposition.]

[He returns the demeanour, appreciative.]

We do what we can for all new arrivals, but with an organized and dedicated group willing to offer aid we will be able to serve them far more efficiently. Providing basic supplies as well as information could be invaluable. We may have compiled information, but I believe that many would be better at ease with a more personal approach.

[He nods, filtering through all that has been said, a hand coming up to pass slender fingers along his chin.]

It also might be useful to have medical aid on hand as well. I can think of Myhrta off of the top of my head, but has anyone ever arrived here critically injured?

[He does smile then, but it's a brief, sad sort of expression -]

They have. My own sister, included...

[But such things are not to linger on, are they? and so, back to business:]

Some form of medic would certainly be helpful. We have several people with an ability to that end, but I am fairly certain that each have their own duties to attend to. The matter may best be discussed with Myhrta personally.
