It may be unwise of us to use what stocks we have rashly, or to any excess, but Myhrta and Thereth both made prudent suggestions. Now that the housing is notably more secure, thanks to the efforts of the community, we may serve newcomers better by ensuring they are provided with basic supplies and a more composed welcome. I have to agree that something like a welcome committe could be useful, especially since people who end up here arrive in such an.. unusual place, if comparing it to what I'm used to back home is any comparision. I'm not sure if there would be enough people available for it though with all the other tasks here.

[ This might be the point where another person would volunteer for it, but what is this volunteering thing you speak of. Unsocial forever. Welp, time for a subject change! ]

I'm sort of surprised people play chess even in this place.

It seems that the majority of us find Demeleier an unusual setting, and often contradictory to what we've been lead to expect of faeries. It's true that we undertake a great deal of work, but I believe that this is just as worthy a cause, and it wouldn't take a great number.

[Though businesslike for such a topic, he smiles, a little more cordial, when she changes the subject.]

Oh? Do you play, miss?

I doubt many of us have had run ins with faeries before we came to this place either way, whether it's the idealised variant for kids or the ones here. ... Then again, I wouldn't have been very surprised if I had seen those too back home. [ You know. Witches, faeries, all the same. ]

I do. My mother was always a big fan so I learned to play as well eventually. I haven't played in a while though, so I might be a little bit rusty by now.

Well, this place certainly teaches us not to rely on expectation and assumption.

[Silver lining and all that, not that Schneizel needed the lesson, meticulous and careful as he is.]

If you would like to try your hand, I wouldn't turn away the prospect of a new opponent.

[On the chess board, of course.]

It might be a nice way to kill some time here. And to play it again in general. If you wouldn't mind an opponent who's quite a bit below your level right now, that is.

Quite the contrary. There is value to be found in every game.

It is true that every single game of chess is different, especially when playing against different opponents. I hope I won't bore you, though.

Oh, I doubt there's any threat of that whatsoever.

When would you like to play, miss?

Whenever you are up for it, honestly. I don't have a fixed schedule aside from my Watch shifts, so aside from those I can fit it in any time.

Ah, I don't think I've formally introduced myself to you yet. I'm Ange, Ange Ushiromiya.

It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Ushiromiya.

[A French and Japanese name? The meaning of the first is noted with a minute smile.]

Perhaps you would be free some time tomorrow?

The same goes out to you.

[ Part of the story of her life, actually. Her grandfather had a western obsession and refused to give any of his children regular Japanese names. Apparently his children decided to take their revenge out on their children. ]

Of course. I'll be looking forward to it.
