It may be unwise of us to use what stocks we have rashly, or to any excess, but Myhrta and Thereth both made prudent suggestions. Now that the housing is notably more secure, thanks to the efforts of the community, we may serve newcomers better by ensuring they are provided with basic supplies and a more composed welcome. Some arriving here quickly ( Read more... )

A welcome committee? Not that I think it's a bad idea, but how would the logistics of a thing like that work? You seem to be good at coming up with ways to better acclimatize us aliens to a place like this. [He's not smiling, but his expression is suggestive enough of a pleasant disposition.]

[He returns the demeanour, appreciative.]

We do what we can for all new arrivals, but with an organized and dedicated group willing to offer aid we will be able to serve them far more efficiently. Providing basic supplies as well as information could be invaluable. We may have compiled information, but I believe that many would be better at ease with a more personal approach.

[He nods, filtering through all that has been said, a hand coming up to pass slender fingers along his chin.]

It also might be useful to have medical aid on hand as well. I can think of Myhrta off of the top of my head, but has anyone ever arrived here critically injured?

[He does smile then, but it's a brief, sad sort of expression -]

They have. My own sister, included...

[But such things are not to linger on, are they? and so, back to business:]

Some form of medic would certainly be helpful. We have several people with an ability to that end, but I am fairly certain that each have their own duties to attend to. The matter may best be discussed with Myhrta personally.

[Gren's brow lifts; consider his interest piqued.]

You'll have to excuse my curiosity since the matter would appear to be a sore subject for you, but is your sister all right?

[Another small, difficult to read smile curves his mouth.]

She was healed, thankfully.

[Never mind that it was Schneizel's own hand that wrought such a thing, not because he squeezed the trigger but because he snapped his fingers.]

However, she is no longer in the village.

[All too familiar -- although Schneizel is pleasant and impossibly handsome, Gren is reminded of authority and power wrapped up in charisma. He nods just the once, his expression seemingly soft with sympathy]

I am sorry to hear that, Prince. Should I call you that? Or would you prefer something else.

Not at all. I could hardly wish her to be anywhere other than home.

[Which is not where he thinks she is, but he doesn't need to go into detail about that. His smile becomes more cordial again, mildly amused.]

As to addressing me, I have little preference. I am known by both title and name here; you may use whichever you are the most comfortable with.

Schneizel it is, then.

[He inclines his head slightly, his gaze penetrative and infinitely curious. This, he feels, is probably not a good thing. He's never been very good at avoiding men of this calibre.]

You're welcome to call me Gren. Apologies for not introducing myself right away.

Well, Gren, it's a pleasure to meet you.

[Innocuous though the man's composure is, there's something subtley sharp in his gaze, and it catches Schneizel's interest.]

I always apprecite someone willing to discuss these matters and take a hand in what happens here.

[Yes, it's been some time since he's been face-to-face with someone who can catch hold so effortlessly.]

Likewise.

[He needs to go. Now.]

If you'll excuse me, [he begins, his gaze remaining steady though he truly is having a hard time looking away at this point] I have a few things to do. But it was nice talking to you. Let's do it again some other time.
