Gay penguin book shakes up Illinois school

This would be my favourite part:

Lilly Del Pinto thought the book looked charming when her 5-year-old daughter brought it home in September. Del Pinto said she was halfway through reading it to her daughter "when the zookeeper said the two penguins must be in love ( Read more... )

We actually sell them at work for about 5 bucks a pop. Besides the penguin, there's a dog, a bear and a "jolly elf" who looks suspiciously like Santa.

Well, anti-religious propaganda. Apparently. I laughed a lot at that review.

That was possibly one of the strangest reviews I've ever read. That's a hell of a lot to get out of a movie about dancing penguins (or is it? *cue ominous music*)

I love how bent out of shape he is about the ecological message. I guess he didn't watch last week's episode of Nature, the underlying message of which was, "every time you throw out a pop can, a baby penguin dies".

But . . . I just finished getting the Gay Lemur Parade cancelled . . . Now I have to deal with PENGUINS!

Seriously though, did you know that Lemurs get high by licking secretions off of centipedes and then pogo through the forest? It was the single most interesting thing I've ever learned at work.

You know what comes after the penguins, right? The bonobos.

I did know that lemurs got high by licking centipedes (ew), but I didn't know about the pogo-ing through the forest bit. I guess I thought they just lay there and watched their hands move or something. Pogo-ing through the forest is much cooler.
