Here is a glimpse of the fruits of our labours this long-weekend, well, mainly Graig's labours, as he was the one who put this monstrosity together. My husband is awesome :)

Oh the lovely land of IKEA of course. This is their Besta line, which is a little more sturdier and deeper (and of course expensive) than their Billy line of book cases and whatnot. It's extremely versatile, so undoubtedly you could get the right combination to suit your needs.
Well... unfortunately I don't read a lot of indie stuff, being the superhero junkie I am, so there won't be much by way of doubles there. However, I'm sure Graig'll let you borrow stuff :)

Good for you :)
I HIGHLY recommend, when (if) you're going to pick up the shelves (like if you're not going to have them delivered), go to the staff in the warehouse and have them give you the print out, then pick it up at the pick up area. This will ensure you get the right peices. Something we didn't do the first time 'round, which necessitated a return trip to IKEA to do, well, returns :)
Wow, to echo previous stated sentiments - that looks absolutely awesome. And as you say, it really does look "grown up" or maybe "professionally designed", even with the very cool graphic novels and superhero toys on display! Very nice. Can't wait to see "the new place" :)

That Flash statue is really, really old. I think its one of the first ones DC did. I *think* its based off a Wierengo design, but I'm not completely sure. I got this statue for free as a friend of mine was clearing out all his stuff in preparation for moving across the country, so for that price, yes, I'm happy with it :) It's not a great statue, the pose is really nice for sure, but he's a little... out of proportion somehow, and the paint job is so so. I mean, overall I do like it, but would I have paid money for it? Probably not
( ... )
Thanx for the Savelightning_riderSeptember 9 2007, 22:57:31 UTC
Ok... I thought the statue looked better in YOUR pic then in the pics I saw on ebay, hence my wondering why I didn't have it... but based on your review, I guess I saw it and didn't like it enough to buy. So will leave it unbought. Esp as I want to get Starro and a Kitty bust...
And now that you mention it, I recognize the Robin( I sold that one on ebay as I just didn't have room for him...), Squinting I *think* Brit's next to Flash, I recognized Nightcrawler next to the 3 yjers... and again with help, I see that Nightwing is on the OTHER side of the YJERS, and lastly Mags is inbetween Brit and Robin.. And still don't see alan but no big deal...
And not sure if Graig would be as amused by Birth of a Nation as we americans... but if he has it, give it a read- it's written by the same guy who does the boondocks- Baker's just the artist( though a darn good one)
