It's like a new house!

Here is a glimpse of the fruits of our labours this long-weekend, well, mainly Graig's labours, as he was the one who put this monstrosity together. My husband is awesome :)

Geek Question... lightning_rider September 8 2007, 13:38:30 UTC
No it's NOT calling dibs on the comics... though I would like a list of movies
;-)
(as [i] others have called dibs on comics... and [ii] the way I figure it odds are I have the graphic novels that I want but can always use more movies- would be willing to pay shipping.

MY question is I want to know about the Flash statue above the TV- it looks kewl and I don't have it... Usually more of the Action Figure guy instead of statue... I just checked ebay( to use as a reference) and I think it's the Wieringo statue. It however looks WAY cooler in your pic then the ebay one I saw- can you confirm and are you HAPPY with it?>
( I think one of the problems with the Ebay pics as I've found with my pics of the Flash Superfriend is that red absorbs light like NO ONE's business.
Right now I'm sort of toying with getting a kitty bust on ebay ( when I have the $) but if you recommend the Statue YOU have I'll think about putting that on my list.

And is that Nightcrawler next to the YJ on the other shelf? Ya know above Cowboy Wally? ;-)
( good taste whoever's cowboy wally it is- hope you guys have at least ONE copy of his Birth of a Nation).
Think those are the only statues I can really make out....though sad to say I do NOT spot any hockey players

Oh and the shelves are MUCH better then my bookshelves- which sadly still/constantly overflow...

That Flash statue is really, really old. I think its one of the first ones DC did. I *think* its based off a Wierengo design, but I'm not completely sure. I got this statue for free as a friend of mine was clearing out all his stuff in preparation for moving across the country, so for that price, yes, I'm happy with it :) It's not a great statue, the pose is really nice for sure, but he's a little... out of proportion somehow, and the paint job is so so. I mean, overall I do like it, but would I have paid money for it? Probably not.

Yes, that is the Nightcrawler bust as well.

Graig's the big Kyle Baker fan, so he gave me my copy of Cowboy Wally (I suppose we have two now). I assume he has a copy of Birth of a Nation, but I have no idea, I have yet to make my way through that huge comic collection of his.

The hockey players are just action figures, and they're off to a side, so now, looking at this picture, I see that it is hard to see them.

Other statues are the original Robin (perched on a roof with his bo staff), the 3 YJ boys, Alan Scott (not with the others), Nightwing, and busts of Magneto, Nightcrawler and Captain Britain.

Ok... I thought the statue looked better in YOUR pic then in the pics I saw on ebay, hence my wondering why I didn't have it... but based on your review, I guess I saw it and didn't like it enough to buy. So will leave it unbought. Esp as I want to get Starro and a Kitty bust...

And now that you mention it, I recognize the Robin( I sold that one on ebay as I just didn't have room for him...), Squinting I *think* Brit's next to Flash, I recognized Nightcrawler next to the 3 yjers... and again with help, I see that Nightwing is on the OTHER side of the YJERS, and lastly Mags is inbetween Brit and Robin..
And still don't see alan but no big deal...

And not sure if Graig would be as amused by Birth of a Nation as we americans... but if he has it, give it a read- it's written by the same guy who does the boondocks- Baker's just the artist( though a darn good one)
