I can't seem to get it balanced.  I think it may be the filtration system.  I have tried pretty much everything in my bag of tricks - or at least in the fish products basket.

Damn.  I so wanted to be done with this thing.

So I start working on the tank around 4:00pm.  By 4:30pm I have made such a mess all I can do is cuss out one side of my mouth and thank Jesus that I moved the tank downstairs incase of things like this.  The hose to the filtration system dislodged and shot about 3 or 4 gallons of water on the floor.  Or should I say carpet... so you get the whole ( Read more... )

I will ask kay to see if she wants them.

maybe she's ready for fish again.

the cory gets to stay.

Soon as the fish are moved I will be cleaning out the tank and getting her ready for the new babies.

Another one of the yellows died while we were at work.  Good news is Lyon seems to believe the blue cichlid may make it.

We got the TV cabinet upstairs about 10 minutes ago.  I'll be spending most of the evening setting that all up.  I decided to use the current TV table in the living room for the time being as a sorting table.  A place to make ( Read more... )

Yesterday morning I awoke and found 2 of the 5 cichlids dead.  I then rushed the remaining 3 barely alive fish over to Lyon's Cichlid Tank to hopefully recover.  As of last night, one passed away, so now there is only 2 ( Read more... )

5 beautiful African Cichlids.  About 3.5 inches in length.

3 orange and 2 brilliant blue.

I have been playing musical fish all evening and pretty much I am ready to just let nature and the whole circle of life thing have its way.

It is sooooo hard to catch a neon in a 55 gallon tank.

I must say the air seems a lot more dust free.  And my pockets certainly feels lighter.  While they wre working they kept tripping the circuits on the house.  So when they tripped the circuit in the office...it blew my wireless router.  So I had to fix that with a new one.  Otherwise it was a pretty positive experience.

And it smells funny.  I think it's the chemicals mixing with all the bleach.  You see when I tore it down a couple of weeks ago, I took all the insides (rock, plants filter) and put them in the tub with a bunch of bleach.  I needed to kill all the algae and blek that was growing on it.  I may not have gotten all of it (the bleach) cleaned off.  So ( Read more... )
