Yesterday morning I awoke and found 2 of the 5 cichlids dead.  I then rushed the remaining 3 barely alive fish over to Lyon's Cichlid Tank to hopefully recover.  As of last night, one passed away, so now there is only 2

Those are pretty hardy fish. They should also have a few day guarantee - maybe you can return them for some new ones. Maybe even take a sample of your water to see what's up. I used to have these and South American. They are awesome fish. Have you ever tried Striped Convicts? Those puppies breed like rabbits. They will lay hundreds of eggs on the side of rocks. I used to look for large pieces of slate to add to the tank. They used them to lay their eggs and they made great caves.

They were free...but I still really liked them. And I hate to see anything die like that. I'm thinking I may stop by the Petsmart and pick up some PH strips and test the water.
