Title: Patient Forgiveness
Author: myforgottenpain
Rating: R for content
Pairing: Vam all the way!
Summary: When Bam and Ville finally are given a chance to be together, will they be able to make the life they always wanted?
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything connected to HIM, Ville Valo, or Bam Margera. Nor do I imply that in reality they are anything but friends. I, however, could not pass up a great idea for a fan fiction!
Warnings: Angsty in the beginning, but it will get better! I swear!
Authors Notes: I'm still pulling this story together, so hopefully it will work well with me posting it before its done. I've only rewritten this story like... eight times...

"Hey Ville... Hey BB.." Ryan said as he walked over to the couch where Ville was changing Esa, who had another failed try at using the potty.

"Hey Ryan." Ville said as he watched Esa slid off the couch. The little boy cried Ryan's name and then hugged his leg before running off to play. "I can't wait for them to be potty trained... I never want to look at another diaper as long as I live." He commented as he got up to throw away the dirty pull up.

Ryan smiled as he followed Ville, "Aww... so no more kids for you and Bam?"

"Actually, we've never really talked about having more children. I think we have our hands full enough with the twins." Ville said as he washed his hands. "I'm certainly not apposed to the idea, we just have to see what happens."

Ryan nodded, "I was thinking... you guys didn't really get to do much for your anniversary."

"Actually..." Ville quickly put in. "Me and Bam are thinking about taking a trip to Finland soon. I want to do some work with the band and Bam wants to produce some videos over there. We were thinking of going to visit Jesse and Mrs. Rintala while we were over there and wanted to know if you guys would like to come with us?"

Ryan grined, "While I think that is a fantastic idea and I am honored you would want us to come along, I have to ask... what does that have anything to do with your anniversary?"

Ville chuckled, "Nothing much, just wanted to ask before I forgot again."

Ryan laughed, "Well I will ask Katri if she wants to go.... thank you again."

"You're welcome." Ville said as he got into the fridge, so he could get the twins a nice snack started. The sound of him rustling around brought both of them running into the kitchen. "Well I see how to get your attention." Ville commented as the boys pushed past him, to look in the fridge with him. "What would you two like for snack?"

Esa had the crisper drawer open and was pulling out a bag of salad mix; while Niklas investigated a container of half and half, flavored, coffee creamer.

"Umm... no... try again." Ville said, taking the salad and creamer from the boys.
Suddenly, Esa cried out with excitement, pulling out a brick of cheese that had been put in the crisper drawer for reasons no one ever quite figured out. He held the cheddar above his head, smiling at his father happily. "Good!"

Ville chuckled, "Alright... you can have cheese." He took the brick from his son, who sort of skipped away as best as an 18 month old could, cheering in approval. "Niko... do you want some cheese?" Ville asked as he cut off a few slices for Esa.

Without looking at Ville, Niklas shook his head and said, "No" while waving his hand at his father and continued to look through the fridge.

A squeal of excitement, much like Esa's, brought Ville's attention back to the little boy. He chuckled as he watched Niklas hauled out the whole bag of grapes, smiling happily. "Grapes it is." He took the bag from Niklas and closed the door, chuckling again when Niklas hurried over to where Esa was sitting on the floor.

Ville cut up the cheese and grapes into finger food size pieces and even tossed in a few mutligrain crackers, placing it all on napkins before bringing it over to the twins, setting it on the floor.

"I still can't believe you let them eat off the floor like that." Ryan commented.

"It's easier to clean up this way. We make them sit in the high chairs for regular meals.... but there is no reason they can't enjoy their snack and then run off and play." Ville said as he brought over sippy cups full of juice. With a slight groan, he sat down next to them on the floor, to eat some cheese and crackers he had cut up for himself.

Despite Niklas' disapproval of the cheese snack originally, he was quick to except some when Esa offered to him. In the same way Esa would have thrown a fit if Ville had given him the grapes directly, but he didn't mind getting them from Niklas.

The adults in the room were further amused by the "conversation" the twins seemed to be having. Most of their language still consisted of "baby talk," that was getting closer and closer to real speech, with about twenty or so actual words thrown in. When they noticed Ryan and Ville laughing, the twins laughed too.

If Bam had been there, he would have thrown his head back and laughed as loudly as he could; which just made the twins laugh louder, coping what he was doing....which always seemed to amuse them greatly.

"Wonderful dinner." Ryan said as he kissed Katri on the check.

"I can't believe how much the twins liked it." She said back as she helped clean up.

"BB woofed it down and even Niko polished his plate and he hardly ever does that." Ryan said as he helped her with the dishes. "It just shows what a great cook you are."

Katri was quiet for a moment before pulling Ryan close, kissing him deeply. Ryan easily returned the kiss, holding her securely against himself.

Bam whistled at them as he came over to the sink, to drop off his dirty dishes. "You crazy love birds..."

Ryan and Katri chuckled, exchanging quick kisses before they finally looked to Bam. "Would you mind terribly if I take your best friend from you?" Katri asked as she wrapped her arms around Ryan's neck, kissing his jaw before nuzzling against him. "That is assuming Ry doesn't mind..."

Ryan faked a wincing look, "You're twisting my arm here..."

Bam chuckled and waved his hand at them. "Go... be gone!"

Katri and Ryan laughed and wished them a goodnight. "Do you have everything under control?" Ryan asked.

Bam nodded, "We can handle it just fine from here, thanks." Turning to Ville, he smiled at his partner, "Ready?"

"Ready." Ville said as he leaned in to exchange a quick kiss with Bam.

The rest of the evening flew by as it normally did. The twins played for a little bit longer, while Bam got everything they would need together in the bathroom and the water was ran. They then wrangled the twins upstairs, got them undressed, and into the tub.

Ville and Bam then discussed things they wanted to do in the upcoming week, the main topic at present being their plan to go to Finland, while they washed the babies up. They still hadn't decided on taking the twins or not. While it would be nice for Mrs. Rintala and Jesse to see them again, since it had been six months and the twins had grown so much; that was a lot of extra work and responsibility.

They would have to take the twins with them to their mutual job sites. While they were sure Mrs. Rintala wouldn't mind watching them, they both agreed that they wouldn't ask her for a few simple reasons. A. They didn't want her to feel that she had to baby sit them. B. This would only be the 2nd time the twins met them and they might not be comfortable with them yet. And most importantly, C, the twins would be going through enough with the time change and a frightening new situation, they would probably handle it better if they had at least one parent with them.

Which lead Ville is suggesting that they each take one, so it would be easier to handle. "I know the guys wouldn't mind me bringing one of the boys...."

"Let's be honest with ourselves, the guys wouldn't mind you bringing Niko." Bam cut in as he pulled Esa from the water and started drying him off. "You know Mr. Bone Head here will have nothing to do with anything if I'm not there... and the same goes for Mr. Stubborn over there."

Ville, who was toweling Niklas off, chuckled, "Alright... you have a point. They used to bring their kids all the time ... so I don't see why they would say anything about me bringing Niko."

Bam indicated for Esa to lay down, which he did after inciting a small game with his father. "And I'm sure no one, where I will be working, will mind Esa being there. As long as he doesn't walk into the shot multiple times, we should be alright too." Bam said as he helped Esa into his pajamas.

Ville finished getting Niklas into his pajamas and stood up to get the boys tooth brushes set up. Handing Esa's red one to Bam, they both set about helping the twins brush their teeth. There was no actual tooth paste on it, but it was important to get them in the habit of brushing at a young age. "I don't think Katri and Ryan will be coming with us."

Bam nodded, chuckling at Esa who got the biggest kick of getting his teeth brushed. "I didn't think they would... but that's alright... it will give them some time alone, without a house full of kids and people running around."

"I'm sure they will enjoy themselves." Ville said as he wrestled with Niklas. While Esa seemed to be endlessly amused by the feeling of the bristles against his gum's, Niklas actually got a bit annoyed and would start fussing after a while.

Since playing was out of the question, Bam and Ville would pull the twins in their laps and start reading to them from a book they were working on. Tonight was the continued Tale of Peter Rabbit. Esa, with his binky in his mouth, playing with the handle on it as he listened to his parents take turns reading.

Niklas, still the little thumb sucker, would pat the pages and try to turn them for Ville; even when he wasn't ready for them to be turned.

Bam and Ville would take turns reading to the twins until they started dozing off. Then the twins would be would be carried to their bed and tucked in for the night.

Exhausted themselves from a long day, Ville and Bam headed back to their room to wash up and get ready for bed. Crawling in behind Bam, Ville snuggled against the younger man, wrapping his arm around him so he could hold him securely. "Bammie..."

"Eh?" Bam answered, not opening his eyes.

"Maybe we should ask Jesse or Mrs Rintala... to watch the twins for a little bit when we get to Finland." Ville said softly.

"Why?"

Ville was silent for a moment, which made Bam open his eyes. "So maybe we could go and do something."

Bam twisted so he could look at the older man, having heard a bit of sadness creep into the older man's voice. "Are you alright?"

Ville draw in a breath, moving so he could lie on his back. "I was just thinking about something Ryan said."

"And that would be?" Bam asked, who was now sitting up so he could gaze at Ville.

"That we didn't get to do much for our anniversary...." Ville commented, looking to Bam now. "Do you know what year this was for us?"

Bam looked down at his hands for a moment, specifically at the ring that he shared with Ville. "Ten years."

Ville sat up, moving so he could sit in front of Bam, reaching out to hold his hands, lacing their fingers together as he leaned in and kissed the younger man lovingly. "Ten wonderful years."

A small smile formed on Bam's lips, "Who would have thought we would make it this far?" He asked softly.

"I certainly never dared to dream I would ever be this happy..."

Bam nodded for a moment before looking to Ville. "We should do something... just us... to celebrate our belated anniversary."

Ville smiled, pulling Bam into for a hug. "Thank you."

"There is nothing to thank me for.... I want to do this as much as you." Bam whispered back.

"I wasn't thanking you for that..." Ville responded softly.

"Then what for?" Bam asked as he looked to Ville directly and was greeted with a kiss.

"For giving me the best ten years of my life."

Bam smiled happily, "Well... I'm willing to try for another ten... and then another ten after that... and another ten after that until we are old, bent over, and completely senile."

Ville chuckled, "Alright... sounds good to me."

Jesse's home, which was also Mrs. Rintala's home now, was a beautiful and yet modest little house on a piece of property on the outskirts of Helsinki. The drive had been horrible mostly because everyone in the car was miserable. Bam and Ville had forgotten how hard it was to travel abroad and this was their first time with children in tow...at least their own children... when they weren't completely smashed. Two children in specific who were very tired and cranky and letting the world know it.

They found out when they got there, that Jesse unfortuantly was not around. He had been delayed leaving the country he was competing in and wouldn't be home until the following day. His girlfriend Mali was there with him, which left Mrs. Rintala at home. She had everything waiting for Bam and Ville when they got there.

"It's so good to see you again." Mrs. Rintala said as she hugged Ville tightly, repeating the gesture and kind words with Bam. "And look at those boys... they have changed so much."

"I know.... I can't believe how much they seem to grow every day." Bam said as he followed her to the guest room they had modified for the twins. "You guys didn't go out and get them cribs did you?" Bam asked when he saw them in the room.

"You didn't have to do that..." Ville said, only to have her hush them both.

"I borrowed them from a friend of mine. She has them for when her grandchildren come to visit her. She didn't mind lending them to me while you two are visiting."

Relieved to hear that, Bam and Ville both put the boys to bed. They soon found themselves being ushered off to bed by Mrs. Rintala, who was promising them a wonderful meal when they woke up. They both thanked her again and then settled in to rest from the long trip over.

****
Jesse came home to a house that was filled with the smell of delicious home made food, as well as laughter from three different generations.

Bam, Ville, and Mrs. Rintala where in the little sitting room, playing a card game that Mrs, Rintala had taught them as children. Esa and Niklas were playing around them. Without even looking up, Ville and Bam would move their legs so the children could crawl around the floor under them.

The game was paused to greet Jesse and welcome him and Mali home. Before even unpacking, Jesse insisted on playing a hand of cards with them. Bam who was just learning the game, beat him, and sent him pouting to his room to settle back in.

Everyone adored the twins, who were handling the change quite nicely, all things considered. Ville and Bam had decided not to bring the potty stuff with them, but had talked to the other adults about how they were attempting to teach the kids the fine art of potty training. Mrs. Rintala had even told them what she had done to get the Valo children potty trained.

"What did you do?" Bam asked.

"Mostly what you are doing... it takes a lot of patience." She answered.

"You always did have a lot of patience... the patience of a saint I would say." Ville said, taking a drink from his coffee.

Mrs. Rintala smiled, running her hand over his head. "You children rarely gave me a reason to loose my temper."

"What was one of the times they did?" Bam asked with an excited smile on his face.

Chuckling, Mrs. Rintala looked to Bam. "One of the times I lost my temper... let me think for a moment."

"I'm still surprised you didn't get mad at me when I told you I was gay." Vill commented which caught Bam off guard.

"You did?"

Both Ville and Mrs. Rintala nodded, which in turned surprised Jesse.

"How come I've never heard this story?" Jesse asked as he looked to his brother.

"You were never intentionally left out of that story. It was just something that took me a long time to really come to grips with." Ville said as he smiled reassuringly at his brother.

"What happened that made you accept it so easily?" Bam asked Mrs. Rintala gently.

"How could I not accept him? The poor dear was pouring his heart out to me. Begging me to not be mad at him..." She paused as she looked to Ville. "Do you mind me telling him?" When Ville nodded his head in approval, she continued. "He sat on the couch, back at my old apartment and told me he thought he was different from his friends."

"What did you say?" Bam asked.

"That it was good to be unique." Ville answered with a smile.

Mrs. Rintala smiled as well. "And it's true."

"I then told her that I was talking about something else. And when she asked me for more details... I told her I didn't like girls the way my friends did. And believe me... that in itself was hard for me to do." Ville said.

"Which I told him was quite alright... he was too young to be thinking of girls anyways. He should keep school and music in mind for now." Mrs. Rintala said.

"How old were you?" Bam asked, smiling when he noticed the blush on the older man's cheeks. "Wiiiilla."

"Sixteen... almost seventeen." Ville murmured.

"See... much to young to be running around with girls" Mrs. Rintala teased Jesse in particular, who just chuckled, use to her humor.

"So what happened then?" Bam asked.

"I told her I didn't think I could like girls like that... and when she seemed to finally get what I was saying... I got a little upset." Ville explained.

"He broke my heart is what he did. He begged me not to hate him. He promised me that he would force himself to get over it. That he would forget those feelings and never speak of them again if that would make me happy."

Bam felt his heart break as he looked to Ville, who was looking down at his hands. He wrapped his arms around Ville, who leaned into his embrace. "Thank God you didn't..." Bam murmured to Ville, not bothering to ask what happened next, since he suddenly felt like it should only be said if Ville was really alright with continuing it.

"She told me... the only way she would ever be disappointed in me, was if I tried to be someone who I wasn't." Ville whispered back to Bam.

Smiling now at the older woman, Bam asked," Where you dropped from heaven or something?"

Everyone at the table chuckled, especially Mrs. Rintala. "No... just making up for the sins of a miss spent youth."

"I find that hard to believe." Bam said, noticing the twins were getting a bit cranky and were probably ready to get ready for bed, despite the nap they had taken earlier.

"We all have our secret pasts Bam... no one is perfect."
