This year ends in slog. Progress on the Project Eternal has been frustratingly slow due to technical difficulties. The unrelenting gloom of grey skies does not help. Cheer is hard to find. After the first visit our new wee bird feeder had been ignored. The place is not very festive since the living room is empty of furniture and full of sawhorses and painting gear for the Project Eternal. Said furniture has been moved to the dining room and spare bedrooms, making them less hospitable (inhabitable?) than usual. For my beloved aniosptera's birthday I had gotten her a wee bird feeder to stick on the bedroom window taking the place of the hummingbird feeder for the winter. It has been in position for not quite a week and saw its first visitors today, a pair of gold(drab in winter)finches.

And there was much rejoicing.

The seasonal obsession begins in earnest with our first proper snowfall. My beloved anisoptera reports spotting four male cardinals.

A few years ago a small tree fell over alongside the driveway in a storm. It was not blocking traffic or at all dangerous so we felt no urgency in getting out the axes and saws.
