Four foot rat snake in the basement. Evicted to way out back. This has gotten so routine.

Yep. The insects and spiders seem to have the same idea. We find more of them moving indoors this time of year. They do not get the same gentle treatment as the snakes.

Wife has an annual plague of ladybugs at the nature center. It always turns out bad -- too warm and dry for them to survive the winter.
