She was playing with Glitch when it happened. They were outside, having a picnic and Glitch offered to walk with her over to the treeline. It wasn't his fault; he got distracted by the flowers and science things and before he knew it, she was up the tree.
She knew that the branch had snapped before she heard it. As she fell, her arm smacked another branch.
DG had heard it, too, and she and Raw were tearing up the hill to Glitch's side, leaving a confused Jeb and Az with Teddy.
She didn't tell anyone that Grandpa caught her.
PROTECT
Wyatt pulled her arm close as Cain backed away and Glitch and DG fell next to her. "Are you okay?" DG asked breathlessly, running her hands over Wyatt's face and head. Raw took Wyatt's elbow and she flinched as he ran a tentative hand over her injured arm.
"Broken," he said simply, looking at DG. DG threw a glance over her shoulder to see Jeb coming up the rise and then turned to Glitch. He returned a look of sheer panic, but she didn't look angry with him.
"Are you okay, Glitch?" she asked, looking him over as Jeb neared.
Jeb knelt down next to DG and she tapped his arm, motioning to Wyatt. "Come here, munchkin," he said, leaning close to pick her up. Wyatt curled against his chest as Cain moved from behind her to stand behind Jeb and DG.
DG took a gentle hold of Wyatt's hand and nodded to Raw. "This might hurt a little, Wy," she said quietly and looked again to Jeb. As Raw worked his skills to mend as much of the damage as he could, DG tried to pull as much of the pain away from Wyatt.
Her eyes never left Cain.
INTERFERE
Wyatt Cain knows he's in trouble as soon as he clears the fence and spots his wife on the porch, arms folded across her chest and one eyebrow reaching the sky. He sucks in a deep breath and continues down the path.
She says nothing as he nears - she doesn't have to - but he's not going to break under her stare.
Nope.
...
"Yes, dear?" he finally asks, as if he's just come back from fishing or tending to the horses.
"You just have to interfere," she sighs.
"She fell out of a tree, Dor," he exclaims, throwing up his hands in defeat. "Much as I'd love the company," he starts, pulling her toward him and giving her that smile. "-I'm not ready for a third chair at that table," he continues, nodding inside the cabin.
"And neither are they," he adds, kissing her forehead before letting go.
"You are crossing a line, Wyatt," she warns, turning with him. He turns and holds up his hands again.
"Once a Tin Man, always a Tin Man."
"You're in denial, Wyatt Cain!" she calls after him. He laughs heartily and she follows.
"You can't handle not being needed by someone."

You may recall or not a
comment I made about a month ago regarding one Wyatt Cain being in denial... This was what I was referring to. ;)
