"It happened again," DG said more than asked. Cain still said nothing. "Didn't it?" she added, voice rising. Cain still didn't reply. "God, damnit, Wyatt Cain!" she shouted, smacking her hand on the edge of the dresser. Forgetting that she had just burned it, the sting caused DG to make a face, and she pulled her hand back.
He was at her side in a second, reaching for DG's hand. "I'm fine," she hissed and pulled her hand away. Wyatt glared at her, and pulled her hand back, so that he could examine the redness.
"What happened?" he asked, wincing at the obvious burn marks on her palm.
"The lightswitch sparked," she said, frowning at him. Wyatt glanced up.
Why was he looking at her like she was a complete stranger?
"How long?" Wyatt glanced up again, but said nothing. "How. Long," she asked again, through gritted teeth.
Wyatt looked at DG and stared at her eyes. They were different. Older...
Hers.
"Deeg?" he whispered, daring to hope what Leigh suspected was true.
"Cain," DG replied, reaching for his cheek. "Please... How long?"
"Too long," he managed, breath hitching. "Deeg," he said again, pulling in close for one long-overdue kiss
