Everything was going wrong at work on Sunday. I had patients in excruciating pain and even though I was doing everything I could, it wasn't enough. One patient couldn't catch her breath. So I feel like I should do a quick update before more time passes and it seems irrelevant. I passed the NCLEX-RN and got a job! Today was my third day on the job and first day of for real nursing orientation. I'm a Registered Nurse, have a name badge and everything to prove it. I'm sorry. It's not that I ever denied the existence or authenticity of mental illness. I never would've said that depression or bipolar disorder or PTSD aren't serious or just as real as any other ailment that afflicts the heart or lungs or liver.
