At first I thought I had a huge revelation about the dagges and how they were cut.  (I even had notions that the ones on the front were attached differently than those showing on the sides.  Now I believe I am beginning to understand Hunnisett's method.   I am thinking that we are confused by her drawings...or she may be a little off ( Read more... )

Sigh, I have to go back to NY to be with my sister for some unexpected surgery, so my actual construction of  the Arnolfini gown will be delayed until I get back in May some time.

 My little brain is about fried...but I think I did figure something out today.  Yes I worked on this b*@%$h all day long.  I was reading Hunnisett's pattern wrong in that I thought the dagg placement was between the dotted lines...I believe what she is saying is the center of the dag goes on that line and that the daggs are wide enough to over lap ( Read more... )

 I hate it when I am wrong!  But my approach to the dagging requires SOOOOO much yardage it is ridiculous (So ridiculous I won't even tell you what I did)  I am embarrassed, but OMG am I glad I checked my calculations twice, made "pleats" up in paper and in cloth ( Read more... )

I went and fiddled with my mockup after uploading that first picture. .  Here is the latest I think now that you see 3 layers (overlapping) of strips of dagges at the front each with 8 daggs (not counting the folded part - if that is there).  So right now I think all the strips are the same length, it is just where they are placed on the sleeve ( ( Read more... )
