We had been looking forward to a visit to Black Mountain, NC, this weekend with the rest of my sweetie's family, but he has come down with the flu and we're staying put. Update on the surgery: it went well, faster than expected (3.5 hours). My dad and sister have both spoken with the surgeon and seen Mom (she was all covered up except for a tiny bit of her face - they're still warming her body back up.) She's still asleep but should be waking up in the next couple of hours. She has a nurse dedicated just to her in ( Read more... )

We now have a date: Tuesday, October 25, for Mom's surgery. I still need to see when they'll need me to fly to Tucson. Not sure if I'll be needed in the hospital while she's recovering, or more when she comes home. We'll see ( Read more... )

My parents meet with my mom's surgeon in about 10 minutes. They'll discuss what needs to be done and schedule a date for surgery. I'm keeping busy around the house but I'm still on pins and needles waiting to know. Once I have a date I'll book a flight. I'm glad she's getting things fixed but I am still nervous as hell ( Read more... )

I realized last night that I had forgotten to call my sister on her birthday earlier this week. It was Monday, Aug. 29, which is when the hurricane hit. I guess I was a bit preoccupied that day.
