While mowing the back yard today, I found two bunnies hiding in the weeds next to the fence. They would run from one corner of the yard to the other whenever I would get close. Yesterday, I took Mom to the Memphis Zoo. She hadn't been in a long time, so there are a lot of new exhibits for her to see. She had barely remembered Cat Country which was one of the first major renovations back in the late 80's. On the way back from lunch, the fox that has been living out in the woods around our parking lot at work was out and about and heading toward the woods. She stopped and posed for us. Yesterday, we got up and headed to the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge to see some bald eagles during Eagle Days. There wasn't that big of an eagle turnout. Other than the ones they had in tents, we didn't see any there. There were quite a few seagulls however ( Read more... )

For the past month or so, I've had a killdeer nesting near my ash tree in my back yard. I haven't let Polar out at all during that time because I didn't want her to mess with the bird. At work on our morning walk on the loop around our complex, a raccoon was standing on the side of the road. He looked around curiously and then darted across to our side.
