I called around 7:00 PM tonight and was informed by the nursing pod that my Dad was discharged today! Whooohoooo! I left them a message at home and hope that everything is cool. So today, went to see my Dad a couple of times before leaving Corvallis. Only two people at a time and family only can go see him in the ICU, and they don't like folks lingering. Turns out my Mom really needs me, and wasn't being honest when I had initially told her my plans for a brief visit down there today. They finally got to see the doctor around 2:30 - 3 PM. The word is that surgery will be at 8 AM Saturday. They plan to repair the abdominal aortic aneurysm. The second aneurysm will either be stented, or removed, completely with the kidney depending on what it looks like when they get in there. They are expecting the surgery to take 2-3 hours ( Read more... )

Not much news to share. He got to the hospital in Corvallis OK, and they did a lot more tests yesterday afternoon and evening. They also discovered another aneurysm. So he has one abdominal aortic aneurysm, and one on an artery to his kidney. Supposedly they will be doing surgery to repair both sometime today, but I haven't heard any more ( Read more... )

They released him from the hospital yesterday. I think that is insane considering the surgery he went through to only be in there for 5 days. He spent the night last night with my Mom at the Mario Pastega House on the medical campus (where my Aunt & I stayed). Today the plan is to try to get him home. Called my Mom on the way home from work to check in and see how Dad is doing. Got to talk to her, my Aunt MJ, and my Dad! He's out of ICU and they had him walking all over the hospital already today! He made it through with flying colors. By less than four hours after they finished the surgery, they had him off the ventilator and sitting up! The doctors said that everything went perfectly, and they didn't even have to give him blood during the surgery. They ended up doing a triple bypass (instead of the planned double), and he got a bovine ( Read more... )
