Weekend Update Part II & III

Apr 09, 2007 20:58

Saturday, I had all these plans of running errands before gearing up to head to the party Chez Moosie. None of them got done.
So no library trip, no jaunt to the store either. Thankfully, I revisited the Tri-Met direction on how to get there, and looked at a Google Map too. Tri-Met basically wanted me to walk almost two miles through people's back yards in order to get to where I was going. I had some time and got in touch with ghstintheshl and worked out an arrangement for him to meet me at Sunset Transit Center, so I could get a ride he rest of the way.

So that worked out fine. The L'il Sizzler 2007 kick-off party was a blast! There were a bunch of local CFer's there, and it had a Hawaiian theme, because the first Sizzler of 2007 happened in Hawaii. Tons of Hawaiian songs on an iPod, great food, great drinks and great friends made for a fun party. There was even a video and MS PowerPoint presentation with the 2006 statistics. nokidsdammit and her hubby made a marvelous video on the statistics and dangers of leaving kids in cars. Then crankycatlady and gutterboylive went into their presentation. It was very impressive and we were all moved... to laughter!

The food was amazing, and so was the company. moosie55 and her hubby Mr. Moosie hosted and prepared lovely chicken & ribs, and the rest of us brought all sorts of stuff too. There was a cake from Beaverton Bakery brought by crankycatlady, pralines from vantucky_cajun, beans and a potato casserole from mnemosyne9 and her BF, I brought Greek salad and fruit salad, gutterboylive made scrumptious appetizers of Sizzlen bacon and water chestnuts. Mr. Cato brought crab cakes that those not allergic to seafood enjoyed too. All in all it was a fun evening!

Easter Sunday
I had these big plans of getting to the library, and was going to see Grindhouse, but due to rain etcetera and just plain chilling out, I cancelled those plans and just hung out at home. Talked to my Mom a couple of times and called my Dad at the hospital. He had gotten out of the room and had some food in the cafeteria, and got taken off more tubes and monitors. I also talked to my bro Nick too. He had planned to have all the family down for Easter Sunday, but with Dad in the hospital he cancelled.

I did get through a bunch of newspapers and magazines and junk mail, and got the kitty box emptied and the trash out, but that was it for accomplishments yesterday. Kind of a strange Easter Sunday with no family and no church.

sunday, dad, easter, hospital, update, family
