Surgery Update on my Dad

He made it through with flying colors. By less than four hours after they finished the surgery, they had him off the ventilator and sitting up! The doctors said that everything went perfectly, and they didn't even have to give him blood during the surgery. They ended up doing a triple bypass (instead of the planned double), and he got a bovine

Whoa. That heart-on-a-tray part made my knees buckle. I'm so glad he came through it well! It must be a real relief to you.

Yeah, my mom didn't tell us about that part until after he was out of the surgery. The anesthesiologist said that he could have some fuzzy memories or problems with short-term memory for up to several months due to what happens to the body on bypass, but so far it looks like he's lost nothing.
