I baked a loaf of bread tonight. A whole huge loaf of wheat bread. I'm not sure how we're supposed to eat it with all of the melted plastic that has seeped into the little holes and things. It smells sort of gross and nasty. But I'm sure there's fiber in it. Somewhere ( Read more... )

My kitchen is nearly done. The blue that they assure me I chose is awful. Funny thing is that yesterday they hadn't ordered the paint so I spent about a half an hour walking around the kitchen with the paint chips and I chose what I thought was a less striking (note - bright!) blue. I chose one in the Navy blue color palette. Just one step lower ( Read more... )

Okay. So we're getting blessed with an almost new kitchen. New cabinets. New paint. No more wallpaper. That's fantastic. It's all stuff I WANTED to do. But today the tile specialist came up with the report and he states that the breaking, cracking tiles are NOT related in ANY way to the water damage. The nexus of all things insurance related is going to be my house at two. (Any minute now.) The contractor, the water mitigation specialist, the tile floor guy AND the insurance adjuster are all due to be here. This will be the time that I find out what they are going to do for my house. Well, the insurance people (one set of them) were out today. Looks like there's a CHANCE I might get a whole new kitchen (at least from the waist down) out of this. They are recommending repair of all the lower cabinets which would be REBUILD of them and just use our old doors. We'd basically get all new kitchen cabinets. Seriously. turning absolutely horrifying! I mean really. I called today to find out about having it removed and had one person say that they would come out and do a free consultation for us.
