My mother had a serious stroke on Friday, August 25.  She's unable to talk and her movement is limited.  I'm so sad.  So many things have gone wrong for so long for Mom and me.

I had my third chemotherapy session last Friday, January 24.  This time I had a visit with my oncologist first, and I told her about the drug Benadryl causing me to have a restless leg syndrome reaction.  My oncologist changed that antihistamine to the drug Claritin instead.  It was an improvement.  While I was getting the infusion, my legs didn't ( Read more... )

I've cut my hair very short, about one inch everywhere except I've left my bangs alone.  I'm really going bald now, you can easily see my scalp under the few remaining wisps of hair left on my head.

I spent most of today at the hospital.  My sister drove me to what I’d thought would be a couple hours of a CT scan-guided liver biopsy.  She picked me up at 8 A.M. as I was supposed to be there at 8:30.  I wasn’t actually wheeled into the CT scan room until 10 o’clock.  The female nurse and two male doctors took turns playing “good doc, bad doc.” ( Read more... )

Sleeping is a problem. I eventually fall asleep in one position or another with the help of various pillows, but then I wake up a couple hours later and I just have to turn so that part of my anatomy doesn't become totally numb. Changing positions is ouchy ( Read more... )

Both of my breasts were removed on Wednesday, October 16.  The operation took longer than I thought it would, around five hours instead of three.  My sister was there for me the whole time, bless her.  I know it was a longer day for her than for me ( Read more... )

Today, just before 5 P.M., I received a phone call from "J" at my hospital. She "reminded" me that I had an appointment tomorrow. I was confused to say the least. I have no written notice and have received no spoken notice that I had an appointment tomorrow. My sister and I were so hopeful about my Dad's upcoming kyphoplasty procedure. It's a procedure where a type of cement is injected into a person's spine to fix fractures and alleviate back pain.
