Kyphoplasty Nixed

My sister and I were so hopeful about my Dad's upcoming kyphoplasty procedure. It's a procedure where a type of cement is injected into a person's spine to fix fractures and alleviate back pain. It turns out that Dad's insurance company decided to deny funding for this procedure. My father has had serious agonizing back pain for years, and cannot get any help for it. What good is "universal health care" when the insurance companies deny help?
