The roads have been pretty clear these last few days, but we still had a few inches covering about half of our driveway, and about 6" still on the ground. Now, though, it's been snowing for the last few hours, and we have about 3-4" more. On everything, roads included. So, we tried to get out of our driveway tonight, figuring that it was mostly slushy in the walked-on / driven-on areas (yes, of our driveway, not the road). We got about 1/3rd of the way turned around, and got stuck. With chains. *sigh* So, no going out yet for us. So, we're up to about 2 feet of snow, and it's just about a white-out outside right now. Where the snow falls off the roof, it's over 5 feet. Definitely a white Christmas ( Read more... )

So, we're up to a bit over a foot of snow in general. It's above the license plates on our cars. It also sticks out about 4" horizontally from the car windows. Our porch, which is not only covered but also has the roof overhanging around the cover, has about 2" blown in over it. I love snow. (:

So, our power came back on about half an hour ago. It was out for a little over an hour. I'm really impressed, given the "storm" (NOAA claimed mid-day today - well, Saturday - that our area was going to get 25-35 mph sustained with up to 50 mph gusts, peaking between 10pm and 7am, i.e. now, but all we're getting is the 2-3" of snow they also ( Read more... )

So we had to take a circuitous route back home last night, but we made it safe and sound.

This morning, however, as I was stepping from the shower, the power went out. Turns out, it was because a tree fell on the power lines over the entrance to our street. Fortunately, when they cleared the way out and started letting us through, it was in the ( Read more... )

Well, I'm off to try to find a way home. Why am I trying to find a way home, you ask? Because all of the freeways and roads leading into the area I live are closed due to flooding. Note that the area I live in isn't, because it's up higher on a hill. We think we've found a back way in that's not closed, though. Wish us luck!
