Softest, fluffiest, most loving cat ever. Momma-cat to both of our kids. When they were infants, and would cry, she would run over, lick their heads, then sit up and guard them. She will be missed. A lot. 2001-2010. RIP Winnie. You were everything we could have ever wanted in a cat.

I've been working 60-hour weeks, plus hiring and managing an intern, plus spending time with my family, plus buying an (older) truck and getting it passing emissions and registered (I need to get my riding mower into the shop and back before July 4th...), plus trying to maintain some semblance of a social life. Well, except for little tiny patches along little bits of the eves of our house. So, we tried to get out of our driveway tonight, figuring that it was mostly slushy in the walked-on / driven-on areas (yes, of our driveway, not the road). We got about 1/3rd of the way turned around, and got stuck. With chains. *sigh* So, no going out yet for us. So, our power came back on about half an hour ago. It was out for a little over an hour. I'm really impressed, given the "storm" (NOAA claimed mid-day today - well, Saturday - that our area was going to get 25-35 mph sustained with up to 50 mph gusts, peaking between 10pm and 7am, i.e. now, but all we're getting is the 2-3" of snow they also ( Read more... )

Father's Day went fairly well. Went over to my parents' for much of the day, had a migraine-ish headache most of the day, got food poisoning at about 3am the following morning (no idea how; no one else got sick) and missed work, got Super Mario Galaxy (because I didn't receive it for Xmas; it's trying to cause a blister on my left thumb!
